Classic Game Pens put the 'fun' in functional

Alrighty, maybe that headline wasn't one of our best. Hey, they can't all be winners. We like these pens because, for lack of a better word, they're fun. Not only will kids love them, but so will anyone who fondly remembers playing these classic games while growing up. While Etch-a-Sketch and Operation aren't as advanced as today's shoot-em-up games, we don't think pens that shoot bullets would be very popular (or extremely safe).

Classic Game Pens Operation, Etch-a-sketch, and Boggle
Classic Game Pens are fully functional versions of old-school games like Operation and Etch-A-Sketch.

The games really do work

Etch-a-Sketch Pen

Turn the two control knobs of The Etch-a-Sketch Game Pen to create a drawing. Shake it up-side down to erase and try again.

Etch-A-Sketch Game Pen draws and erases
Everything you remember and love about the Etch-A-Sketch is alive and well in the pen-sized version.

Operation Pen

The Operation Game Pen features removable pieces which are connected by nylon thread so they will never get lost. The tweezers are hidden in the screwtop of the pen. And yes, if you screw up, the patient's nose lights up and you receive a nasty "errrr" sound from the internal speaker. The battery required for gameplay is included. It's a small watch battery, so it doesn't add much weight to the Operation pen.

Boggle Pen

You can do some serious Boggle-ing with the Boggle Pen. It features a removable top as well as a removable sand timer. And yes, the pen still works when you remove these pieces.

Classic Game Pen Boggle
The Boggle Game Pen features removable pieces that while small are still playable.

A few customer questions we've answered

Q: Are these game pens comfortable enough to write with for long periods of time?
A: The Classic Game Pens are well-balanced and lightweight, so we don't have any problems with them. They aren't like some of the novelty pens that are so heavily-weighted at the top that they are awkward to use.

Q: Hi! I would like to buy one operation game pen but I live in Spain (Europe) Could you send me this pen to Spain? How much money does it cost?
A: Yes, we can ship an Operation Pen to Spain. In fact, we ship worldwide! To get a shipping quote, click the "Get Shipping Quote" link at the top of the page. It is to the right of the big picture of the item.

Q: Is the pen customizable? For example, could I have a company website inscribed on one side?
A: Vat19 does not offer any imprinting services. You could probably find a company that will imprint the Classic Game Pens for you.

Q: I have the operation pen and the game is fun, but can't figure out how to pull the pieces back into the body without the nylon strings sticking out. Is there something I should twist to pull them back in?
A: The Operation Game Pen does not have any mechanism to retract the pieces. While holding the piece, feed the string back into the body and then put the piece back in.

Q: Can you print a custom logo on these game pens?
A: No, we do not offer any personalization services. However, we're sure you could find a local company that could print onto these pens for a nominal fee.

Q: what materials have you used?
A: That will depend a little bit on which style of Classic Game Pen. Operation pen? Boggle pen? Etch A Sketch pen?

Q: are they durable to last 4years+?
A: If you write with the pen often, the ink probably wouldn't last 4 years, but the game will still be usable. Keep in mind that each game pen uses standard D-1 mini ballpoint refills.

Q: When do you expect to have more Boggle pens in?
A: We will not have more Boggle pens until late January or February 2009.

Q: Can you replace the ink refills with pencil refills? I would like to give the game pen as a gift to a kid.
A: Lead should not be used with the Game Pens, as they are not made for this type of use. The Game Pens should only be refilled with a D-1 standard mini ballpoint pen refill.
