Ask a Burning Question

Is there something you need to know about this product that we've omitted?

Send us an anonymous question and we promise to answer it within 1 business day. The answer will be displayed below.

A few customer questions we've answered

Q: what chemicals are used to make the flames different colors?
A: While we're not sure what chemicals the candle makers used, you can get purple with potassium chloride, blue with copper chloride, orange with calcium chloride, green with copper sulfate, and red with strontium chloride. For most colors, there's actually more than one way to do it.

Q: What's the point of a white candle if it burns orange?
A: The white candle is like the "ugly friend" of the package. By simply standing next to the boring orange flame, all of the other candles look ten times better.

Q: Are the candles or plastic holders edible? They look delicious.
A: No, we wouldn't recommend eating the candles. I'm sure the plastic holders are delicious. I mean, isn't all plastic? We're kidding. Don't eat the plastic, rubes!

Q: Where are these candles made? USA? China?
A: Color Flames candles are produced in China.

Q: Do they burn hotter than normal candles?
A: The Color Flame Party Candles do burn a little bit hotter than regular (boring) party candles. However, these candles do meet the safety requirements set by the American Standard for Testing Materials.

Q: do the makers of these candles know of any colourful butchers or bakers?
A: Not off the top of our heads, but a colorful butcher sounds kind of scary.

Q: are the melted wax (is it wax?) toxic ?
A: Color Flame Party Candles are non-toxic. They are not made from wax. Color Flame Party Candles are made from a combination of special salts and metals that create the colored flame, a bonding agent that keeps the candles strong, and the main ingredient consists of citric acid crystals, such as those used in food preservatives.

Q: CaAn you make these candles in larger diameters?
A: The birthday candles that you see above are the only colored flame candles that we offer.

Q: where do you get the idea to create color flame party candle?
A: Vat19 is not the manufacturer of the Color Flames Candles. We just think they're really cool candles.

Q: Can I order all 12 candles in one colour only? Are the candle plastic holders coloured to the candles? Eg. Orange holder to orange candle.
A: Color Flame Party Candles are only available in packs of assorted colors. All of the plastic holders are white.

Q: why white color candles burn faster than colored candles
A: Although we're not sure that the white candles do burn faster, it's definitely possible. Just as different chemical compounds create different colors of flames, they can also burn at different temperatures. If you find that the white candle burns faster, that's probably because it's burning at a slightly higher temperature.

Q: I think all the chloride salts are colorless,if it is true how does the color of candle body come from?
A: The wax is colored independently of the flame. It's just regular colored wax.

Q: Do you used color compound in wax or string?
A: Color Flames Candles do use dyes and chemicals to color both the wax and the string, but the manufacturer does not indicate precisely what is used to achieve those colors.

Q: if you burn pottasium chloride copper chloride calcium chloride copper sulfate and strontium chloride would any of them re-lease dangerouse gases or chemicals into the air?
A: The chemicals in Color Flames candles are perfectly safe to burn.

Q: What happens to the person if they eat the candle or breath in to much of the fumes?
A: Even though the Color Flame Party Candles are non-toxic, you still should not eat them. Licking the icing or cake off of them is fine, as this product passed a soluble elements test. This is a test where the product is put in contact with saliva to see if any toxic elements are transferred. Color Flames are non-toxic so the fumes aren't a worry.

Q: how are these candles made?
A: Color Flame candles are machine-made.

Q: what is burnt instead of parafin in colored flame candles?
A: Different elements in the wick create different colors when burned.

Q: I WANT TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE CHEMICALS USED TO MAKE COLOUR FLAMMING ?
A: Hey, we want toilet seats made out of solid gold. But, sometimes what we want isn't in the cards (or has already been answered above, hint, hint).

Q: I WANT THE COLOR PIGMENT (CAN YOU ABLE TO SEND ME ALL COLOR)PLEASE ? AND WHAT WILL BE THE CHARGE FOR EACH COLOR ?
A: We're sorry, but we're not the manufacturer of Color Flames Candles. For that reason, we're unable to provide the service you're describing.

Q: are the chemicals to make these candles hard to get? where can i get the chemicals?
A: Our manufacturer does not disclose the chemicals used to create the colored flames for these candles.

Q: how to give the candle flame the color green
A: Since the Color Flame Candle manufacturer does not give out this information, our best guess is that copper sulfate is used to create a green colored flame.

Q: What is the weight of each box of 12 candles
A: Each box of Color Flame Party Candles weighs approximately 1.5 ounces.

Q: how are the candles colored?
A: The candles get their color by adding dye to the food preservative, which is the main ingredient in the Color Flame candles.

Q: how does the way the candle gets its color affect the way it burns
A: Our experience has not shown the candles to burn differently based upon their color.

Q: What type of chemicals are in a red, white, blue, and pink candle?
A: While we try to be as helpful as we can, we're not chemists and we're not the manufacturer of these candles and thus cannot answer this question.

Q: WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SENDING QESTIONS TO YOU GUYS IN ALL CAPS?
A: Not sure. We sure wish they'd use their spellchecker, though ;).

Q: wait so do you know what chemicals are in the candles or don't you know? if you don't know... how can i find OUT????????????
A: Since our manufacturer does not disclose exactly how to make the Color Flame Candles, we cannot say for sure which chemicals they use or how much of each chemical. However, using our old chemistry class knowledge and some help from Google, we can make a decently educated guess about which chemicals might be used to make certain colors.
