Return the propeller to the base station to turn the flying alarm clock off

The concept is simple: create an alarm with an annoying sound (think German occupation in WWII) and add a propeller to the top. When the alarm sounds, the propeller flies out and bounces around the room. The annoying alarm sound doesn't stop until you return the propeller to the clock's base station.

Flying Alarm Clock won't turn off unless the propeller is returned to the base station.
You cannot turn off the Flying Alarm Clock until you return the propeller to the base station.

Simple operation

With only four buttons and an alarm-snooze-off switch, you'll find the Flying Alarm Clock a breeze (get it, breeze) to use. Hold down the "Time" button while pressing the "Hr" and "Min" buttons to set the time. To set the alarm, do the same thing except hold down the "Alarm" button.

Question: Do I really have to put the propeller back into the stand?

Answer: Yes! Pressing the top with your finger will not silence the flying alarm clock. Fooling with any of the controls does not turn it off. The only other way to turn it off is to remove the batteries. So, if you think it's easier to unscrew the battery compartment than to get up and find the propeller, go for it. However, we think you'll be awake at that point, anyway.

Question: Will the propeller damage my bedroom?

Answer: No, the flying alarm clock's propeller is plastic and flexible.

Question: How high / far will the propeller go?

Answer: The flying clock's propeller launches approximately 8 feet into the air. It has a very unpredictable flight path.

Q: to make the alarm go off does it matter if it is in snooze or alarm to set it off?
A: The Flying Alarm Clock will only sound its alarm and shoot the propeller in 'alarm' mode. Snooze mode only causes the alarm to sound.

Q: Is there a way to attach razor blades to the propeller so it shaves me in the morning?
A: While we applaud your creative thinking, the Flying Alarm Clock's use as a razor is not recommended. Its flight pattern is highly unpredictable and would most likely result in a shave that's a little too close for comfort.

Q: Is there any chance the alarm clock will fly away from my house and never come back? while the prospect of flying electronics is appealing, I'd rather not have a $25 item just up and leave my house.
A: Wow, talk about abandonment issues. As shown in the video, the flying alarm clock will fly about 8 feet into the air, spin around a bit, then drop back to the floor. If you have pets, you might want to make sure that they won't be able to run off with the propeller.

Q: How do you tell if it's AM or PM? I don't what to hear it twice a day.
A: Once you roll over into the PM hours, a tiny "P" appears in the upper left hand corner of the flying alarm clock's screen. It's not shown in any of the pictures above, but we did test one and it does differentiate between AM and PM.

Q: Will the propeller poke out my eye?
A: We really, really doubt that the flying alarm clock would hurt your eyes.

Q: How long does the propeller stay in the air?
A: The Flying Alarm Clock's propeller shoots approximately 8 feet into the air. If it doesn't hit the ceiling and ricochet around a bit, its flight will last about 3-4 seconds.

Q: Is it possible to mount this on the ceiling so it flies down at me?
A: Yes. We suggest duct tape and/or super glue. Please take pictures and send them to us!

Q: will the alarm go off eventually if you loose the propeller?
A: Without returning the propeller to the Flying Alarm Clock's base, the other ways to turn off the alarm are to switch the alarm button to "off", unplug the clock, or wait a long time for the batteries to die.

Q: Would smashing the clock with a hammer also work as a way to turn it off?
A: Yes, but we don't recommend smashing your Flying Alarm Clock if you want to know when to get up the next day.

Q: Will anything in my bedroom (say, a ceiling fan) damage the alarm clock's propeller?
A: It's possible, but not likely. The propeller is made of a sturdy, semi-flexible plastic that should stand up to regular use.

Q: On my alarm clock it shows a 'Z' along with the alarm picture. Even though the alarm is on the propeller is set it never goes off, with new batteries..? Why?
A: The 'Z' means that the Flying Alarm Clock is in 'Snooze' mode. In Snooze mode, the propeller doesn't fly off and only the alarm will sound (because what kind of snooze forces you to continually fetch). So, take your alarm out of snooze mode and the propeller will fly again.

Q: Could I buy two and make them fight each other?
A: No. Unfortunately, the Flying Alarm Clocks only stay up for 10-15 seconds. The fight wouldn't be very exciting at all.

Q: There is supposed to be a test button that sounds the alarm and launches the propeller. When I push it I get the alarm but no propeller launch. What gives?
A: To launch the flying alarm clock's propeller, you will need to press the test button down for approximately 5 seconds. If you push it too quickly, it will not have enough time to launch successfully.

Q: Can you superglue this to a model airplane for a gyrocopter? Do you recommend it? What would be the callsign for it?
A: We're not sure that it would be able to support much additional weight. We recommend using the flying alarm clock as packaged, but if you decide to modify it, you can choose a call sign based on the standard naming conventions described over at Wikipedia under "call sign".

Q: Is it true that I can just slide the switch to "Off" and it will turn off the alarm? Won't I get used to that and do it all the time?
A: Sliding the switch to "Off" turns off the alarm setting; it doesn't silence the alarm once it starts ringing. To silence the alarm, you would have to retrieve the propeller or remove the batteries.

Q: Can I buy it on Argentina? How I can do that? Thanks!

A: We don't know exactly why the Flying Alarm Clock was invented, but we're going to guess it was so that people had to get out of bed in order to turn off their alarm clock. Vat19 does not manufacture this item and we do not know the manufacturing process.

Q: What if you lose the propeller?
A: We do not sell replacement propellers. Unless your Flying Alarm Clock is sitting by an open window, we don't know how it would get lost. How messy is your room!?

Q: This alarm clock clearly doesn't work. In the video the propeller lands on the guy's bed, making it easy for him to simply put it back on the alarm clock. How can I be sure this won't happen to me?
A: The propeller is liable to fly anywhere in a room. Where it lands is completely random. It can easily fly into the ceiling and bounce away at a nearly 90 degree angle and end up in a corner of your room.

Q: when was it invented?
A: Sorry, we don't know when the Flying Alarm Clock was invented.

Q: This is the single most coolest funniest hilarious awesome thing i've ever seen. I'm buying one tomorow!!! an even better idea would be an alarm clock where the ENTIRE clock would fly around the room
A: If you decide to invent that, let us know.

Q: Is it possible for the clock to function without the propeller?
A: The clock display will still work, but the alarm function will only work properly if you use the propeller.
