Overview:

The Wind Chime Alarm clock combines punctuality with the sound of metal pipes clinking against each other. Hmm, that description doesn't quite do the product justice.

The Wind Chime Alarm Clock features 12-hour and 24-hour clocks, the date, a stopwatch function, and two different alarm modes. You can wake up to the sound of electronic beeping or to the gentle sounds of wind chimes. We choose the latter. You can also set the wind chimes to chime continuously, although this will drain the batteries fairly quickly. Chime, on, party people. Chime on.

For people who like: clocks, relaxation

Features & specs:

  • 12 and 24 hour clocks
  • Date display
  • Stopwatch function
  • 2 alarm modes
  • Requires 3 AAA batteries (not included)

Wind Chime Alarm Clock

The newly redesigned Wind Chime Alarm Clock features 10 bars.

We like wind chimes. And we like clocks.

OK, confession. We prefer watches to clocks, but we found the wind chime wristwatch to be a real pain in the butt when trying to ninja-sneak on people in the office during our AirZooka battles (like it or not, that was a pretty good cross-promo).

The Wind Chime Alarm Clock uses batteries or AC power.
The Wind Chime Alarm Clock requires 3 AAA batteries (not included).
Optionally, you can use AC power (not included).

The Wind Chime Alarm Clock is not all hot air

This super-cool wind chime alarm clock features the following:

  • Multiple alarms
    • Option to wake to a traditional alarm sound or the sound of the wind chimes
  • Snooze button (as if you can sell an alarm clock without it)
  • LCD display with backlight: It just looks cool.
  • Stop watch: While the stop watch is an incredibly cool invention because it allows us to determine how long it takes people to run 100 meters, we still can't quite figure out why you'd want it for an alarm clock. How many times have you needed to accurately time something from the comfort of your bed? Don't let your dirty mind linger on that. Just move along to the next feature.
  • Continuous operation: You can just flick the switch to 'on' and rock out to the wind chimes. However, this will probably run the batteries down fairly quickly. A more cost effective solution would be to purchase our Ambient Windchimes CD (hey, face it, you're on an e-commerce site).
  • AC power (not included): If you don't want to use batteries, there is an optional AC input. The cable isn't included.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Wind Chime Alarm Clock

Are batteries included with the wind chime alarm clock?

Did they ask Edison if batteries were included with the first lightbulb? Well, who knows. But, seriously, it's an alarm clock that activates wind chimes when you need to wake up! It's so cool who cares if it needs batteries. OK, it uses 3 AAA batteries which are not included. We're sure you've got a few lying around.

Do the wind chimes actually make noise?

Yes. There is a small rotating mechanism underneath the chimes that causes them to make contact with a metal bar.

How big is the Wind Chime Alarm clock?

It is 8 inches tall and about 5 inches wide. The wind chime alarm clock's small footprint makes it perfect for even the smallest nightstands.

I can't get the wind chimes to activate as an "alarm"?

We've gotten a few emails from people having trouble getting their windchimes to start making noise after they've set the alarm. Once you've set the alarm, make sure you flip the switch to "auto" and not "alarm". The "alarm" switch makes a beeping noise whereas the "auto" selection initiates the wind chimes. Also, make sure you've got your AM and PM settings correct and that the alarm "icon" is visible when you return to the "real time" mode.

A few customer questions we've answered

Q: Where can one purchase the option A/C attachemnt so not to waste batteries? Can this chime be set to go off every hour?
A: You should be able to pick up the cord at any Radio Shack or electronics store, and possibly larger general merchandise retailers. The clock specifies a 6.0VDC cable with the capacity to provide at least 500mA. And yes, the chime can definitely be set to chime every hour.

Q: How do I set the time, and how do i set the alarm?
A: Complete, illustrated instructions for setting the time and alarm are included with each clock.

Q: I want to buy the Wind chime alarm clock. Can you ship to Athens Greece? If you do, please what is the postage cost? I can pay by Citibank VISA.
A: Yes, we ship worldwide. For a precise shipping quote, simply click the "Get Shipping Prices" link underneath the large picture of the wind chime alarm clock at the top of the page. You can enter in your country and it will give you a couple of different shipping options.

Q: Does it have a electric cord or can I buy one? Ginny
A: While the wind chime alarm clock doesn't come with a cord, the cord that it uses is fairly standard and you shouldn't have any trouble finding it in a local electronics or general merchandise store. Just tell them you need a 6.0VDC cable with the capacity to provide at least 500ma. That information is also provided on the clock itself, right near the hole where you would plug it in.

Q: Are you sure that stopwatch isn't actually a countdown? If I wanted to take a 30-minute nap, a countdown would be very useful.
A: The wind chime alarm clock's instruction manual calls that feature "Chronograph Mode", and it's designed as a count-up timer that measures to the 1/100th of a second. If you'd like to take a 30-minute nap, though, you could always set the regular alarm for 30 minutes.

Q: how do i turn it from 24 hour to 12 hour setting?
A: To Toggle 12/24 hour format: In Real Time mode, press the SELECT button continuously until the hour digits are flashing. Press the SET-SNOOZE button continuously to advance digit and to toggle the 12-hour and 24-hour format. In the 12-hour format, the "A & AM" or "P & PM" will be shown. In 24-hour format, the "H" will be shown.

Q: I'd like to know whether it's really visible in a dark room
A: If you hit the backlight button, you will definitely be able to see the wind chime alarm clock's screen in a dark room.

Q: how accurate is the clock over time?
A: We've yet to hear a complaint about the accuracy of the wind chime alarm clock, and we saw no problems in our testing. So, we assume that it's accurate.

Q: Does the backlight stay on so you can always see the time, or is it only while you're pressing it?
A: In order to preserve battery life, the wind chime alarm clock's backlight stays on for about 5 seconds after you have pressed the button.

Q: It dosen't seem very loud...
A: It's not. If you're a heavy sleeper, you probably need something much less subtle, like our Flying Alarm Clock. The Wind Chime Alarm Clock is designed for those who are seeking a softer, gentler sort of wakeup.

Q: Can I request a replacement instruction booklet? Ours was damaged with other paperwork in a basement flood. The chimes tinkle, but I don't know how to set the time or any other functions. HELP!
A: If you have lost your instructions and need assistance, please contact us at 800.476.1991.

Q: Just to be clear: IS the chronograph feature a countdown? I'd like to use the chime alarm to gently let me and my client know we are nearing the end of a therapy session.
A: Yes, the Wind Chime Alarm Clock has a countdown timer.

Q: Can you change the order of the chime bars to make a different tune?
A: It would take some work, but we don't see why you couldn't rearrange the chimes.

Q: Can the chime alarm be accurately set for 10-20 minutes? (If yes, consider this an online marketing tip. Google "meditation timer" and see ... Your product is unique in its price range!)
A: Yes. It's very easy to set the chimes to go off at a certain time by using either the standard alarm setting (set for 20 minutes from the time you begin) or the countdown timer.

Q: Hey. Just discovered your site. Can you tell me how many time the chime sequence rings to wake you up before it stops. I am wondering if I will hear it over my sound machine...thanks julie
A: The Wind Chime Alarm Clock will continue to chime for 1 minute after the alarm goes off. (Which is about 15 consecutive chime sequences.)

Q: hello, doe this clock do hourly chime, ie once for 1pm , twice for 2pm ...etc. thanks.
A: Yes, the Wind Chime Alarm Clock can be set to sound hourly.

Q: Can it be programmed for 2 sets of time? My husband wakes up at 5:30 am and I wake up up at 6:30 am. And when you tap the button, it completely turns off, correct? Or do I have to hold down the button
A: The Wind Chime Alarm Clock has only one set time allowance. The SELECT button turns off the alarm completely whereas the SET-SNOOZE button temporarily turns off the alarm for 5 minutes while in snooze mode.

Q: Can I read the time in the middle of the night WITHOUT pressing any button?
A: Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your preferences), the backlight on the Wind Chime Alarm Clock does not stay illuminated on its own. You'll have to press the button to see the time in the dark.

Q: can u tell me how to set the time. not the alarm time but the regular time. i dont have the instruction manual so can u please tell me
A: Press the MODE button 3 times. This should cause the second digits to flash. You can adjust the second, hour, minute, day of week, date, and month. To scroll through the different options, use the SELECT button until your selection is flashing. Use the SET-SNOOZE button to advance the digits. Holding down the SET-SNOOZE button will cause the digits to advance at a faster speed. Press the MODE button when you are done making your settings.

Q: IS THE ENTIRE CLOCK METAL OR IS PART PLASTIC?
A: The frame of the Wind Chime Alarm Clock is plastic. The wind chimes are metal.

Q: I have tried radio shack and other retailers. No one seems to have the correct ac adapetr. Help!
A: We recommend searching "6 volts dc 500ma" or "6VDC 500ma" in Google. There are a number of online retailers that carry the adapter, usually for less than $10.

Q: Does wind chime clock have EMR?
A: We contacted our manufacturer, and they do not know the EMR rating for the Wind Chime Alarm Clock.

Q: Does the windchime alarm clock have a countdown timer? Thanks!
A: Yes, the Wind Chime Alarm Clock has a countdown timer.

Q: i took this to radio shack for a cord. no matter what they did they could only get the chimes to work, not the clock. is there a secret to this?
A: Batteries must be used in order for the clock to work.

Q: If its called an electric wind chime alarm clock, why doesnt it plug in instead of usuing batteries?
A: The chimes can be powered by an AC power cord (not included) rather than batteries. However, batteries are needed to power the clock function.

Q: I have very poor eyesight without my glasses on at night...can you tell me how big the numbers are?
A: The numbers on the Wind Chime Alarm Clock are 7/8 of an inch tall.

Q: i need the instructions. can i find them online?
A: The Wind Chime Alarm Clock instructions are not available online. If you have a fax machine, please call us so we can look up your order and we can fax you a copy of the instructions.

Q: I would like to know if you can set the snooze button and decide how much time you want for the snooze. I also want to know how much is the cable AC cable. Thanks
A: The snooze time cannot be adjusted. Vat19 does not sell AC cables, but you should be able to find one at an electronics store.

Q: help! i've lost my manual. how do i keep the alarm on and not have the hourly chime? can i get another manual?
A: We do not have replacement manuals. However, if you have a fax machine, please call us so we can look up your order and we can fax a copy of the Wind Chime Alarm Clock instruction manual to you.

Q: is the volume loud enough to wake deep sleepers? is the volume adjustable?
A: That would depend on just how deep of a sleeper you are! If the chiming is not loud enough to wake you, there is also an option for an electronic beeping alarm sound. The volume is not adjustable.

Q: I know the clock has an option to where the clock chimes hourly automatically. does it chime and then stop on its own (like a 'grandfather clock') or do i have to hit the button to shut it off?
A: It chimes for about 5 seconds and then stops on its own.

Q: How do we set the chimes to go off every hour.
A: If you need a copy of the instruction manual, please call us at 1-800-476-1991 and we can fax you a copy.

Q: i've lost the instructions. how do i set the alarm?
A: If you call and give us a fax number, we can fax you a copy of the directions. Our phone number is 1-800-476-1991.
