Curiously Awesome Haunted Locations

Not too far from the Vat19.com headquarters is a town that is believed by many to be the most haunted town in the United States. Given the timeliness of the subject, we've decided to share some pictures taken during one of nearby Antoinette's Haunted History Tours.

The Masonic Lodge - The tour began with dinner in an old Masonic Lodge that is said to be haunted by the ghosts of happy Masons from days gone by. Of course, the scariest thing there was probably the blood-red shag carpet that covered the floor of the room you see below:

The McPike Mansion - While the house itself is under heavy renovation, we were able to tour the grounds and wine cellar. The home was built in 1869 for Henry McPike, and it is said to be haunted by the spirits of a young servant girl, the early 1900s owner Paul A. Laichinger, and possibly others. Some people have spotted apparitions in the windows from outside, and one picture below seems to illustrate that phenomenon...or a reflection.

Milton School - The evening ended on a sinister note, though, as we toured the old Milton School. According to the stories, there was a time roughly 70 years ago that a young girl named Emily or Mary (depending on who you talk to) stayed late after school to finish a project. As it got late, the girl knew that she should be getting home, but unfortunately, she never made it there.

The next morning, her bloody and battered body was found in the shower stalls of the basement. Outside of some skin under her fingernails, there were no clues. Days passed, and finally people noticed that one of the janitors hadn't been around for a few days. When they visited him in his home, they saw that his arms were covered in scratches from "his cat".

The man was harassed for weeks until one day, his body was found hanging in the boiler room, and the words "I did it" were scrawled on the wall by his swinging feet. While no one can be certain about what happened, our guide offered some insight based on her communication with the spirits that haunt the school.

She indicated that she believed the suspected janitor was actually somewhat developmentally disabled, and that a different, angrier janitor was responsible for both crimes. She said that she had communicated with that janitor, Charlie, on numerous occasions, and that he had gloated frequently about both of his crimes.

Today, a number of businesses are housed in that school, and employees (particularly young women) have reported a number of strange incidents. The pictures below are of the gymnasium, boiler room, shower room, and a few other locations along the way. Unfortunately, a commercial haunted house of some sort has also been housed in the building, so there are a number of strange props strewn about.
