Since the dawn of time, there has been a great debate looming among all living beings: Who's cooler, dinosaurs or dragons? For the answer, you needn't look any further than cartoons.
The Dragons:
Maleficent - She is big, ugly, mean, and breathes fire. But, she's kind of cool since she's such a bad ass. When it comes to Disney, even the villains are popular.
Figment - If you haven't visited Journey into Imagination at Epcot, you are missing out. He's a little weird looking and his theme song will get stuck in your head like crazy, but he can fly and he gets away with interrupting all the time. When you're 6, it's cool.
Puff, the Magic Dragon - He lives by the sea, which is always nice. The lyrics may or may not be about smoking joints. Also, he's got some gnarly nostrils and you could dare him to see which objects will fit up in there.
Lollipop Dragon - He's not very popular, but hopefully some of you have heard of this Christmas cartoon special, The Great Christmas Race. Again with the huge nostrils! He's too nice to breathe fire though. As a prize for winning the race, his face ends up in the middle of a huge lollipop. Cool.
Dragon Tales - This group of dragon kids totally ruins it for the dragon team. They aren't very cute and they travel inside of a Knuckerhole (seen below), which looks like a gross giant outtie bellybutton. However, they are bilingual, which is cool.
The Dinosaurs
Denver the Last Dinosaur - His theme song is awesome. He lived in California and rocked some big sunglasses.
Land Before Time - Littlefoot, Ducky, Petrie, Cera, Spike, and Chomper are so cute! They each have their personalities and make a pretty good group. Watch below for one of my favorite Land Before Time songs.
Dino - He was Fred and Wilma Flintstone's pet and he barked like a dog, which is kind of weird. But, he is purple and having a pet dinosaur is cool. He probably gets to eat all the Fruity Pebbles and Flintstone Vitamins he wants. I'm jealous.
Barney - It is unfortunate that he is a dinosaur. It is also unfortunate that he had a terrible theme song and a highly annoying voice. Additionally, it is unfortunate that he had to hang around with Baby Bop, who is even more annoying and sounds like she has some sort of problem with excess spit. I'm not able to embed the video, but skip to 00:07 and 08:32 for a sampling.
Rex - The Toy Story movies are beyond awesome. Rex gets to hang out with buddies like Woody, Buzz, RC, and Andy. He's a bit worrisome, but in an endearing way rather than an annoying way.
And the winner is......DINOSAURS! Not only are the dinosaur characters cuter, funnier, and awesomer, dinosaurs actually existed. That I am aware of, there has never been a discovery of a fire-breathing dragon. Besides, most of the cartoon dragons were incapable or too nice to breathe fire, which is the skill that would make them different from any other animal on Earth.
Characters who almost made the list include Yoshi, Elliot from Pete's Dragon, and Mushu from Mulan.
