No Way! They're from Norway!?

I never really knew of anything cool and famous that was related to Norway, other than Norwegian Cruise Lines and the Norway village at Disney's Epcot theme park. It ends up that there are some pretty well-known bands and musicians from Norway. When I think of Norway's music scene, I think of lots of electronic and metal music. Thankfully, there's more genres to it.

Röyksopp

This Norwegian electronica duo is probably best known in the U.S. for their song "Remind Me", which was featured on a Geico caveman commercial.

A-Ha

This band from Norway has been around since 1982 and they're still making music. Although I doubt anyone can name one of their songs other than "Take on Me".

Sissel

It isn't fair that when people think of the Titanic soundtrack they instantly think of Celine Dion singing "My Heart Will Go On". A Norwegian singer named Sissel sang several arias that are widely recognized as being part of Titanic's signature sound. I never knew who sang those!

Flunk

Choosing the music for The O.C. would've been pretty cool, but eventually the show seemed to be promoting indie bands and its soundtracks just as much as the storyline. Flunk, a band from Norway, managed to get on the radar and land a spot on the 4th soundtrack with their song "Play". Not bad considering they were listed among the likes of Beck, Modest Mouse, Imogen Heap, and Sufjan Stevens.

TNT

I'm not much of a late-1980's hair band fan, and although I do not recognize their hit song "Everyone's a Star", I have heard of this band. Not sure why, but I have. They also have a video for their so-called hit "10,000 Lovers" that has a lot of hair blowing in the wind.

M2M

These two girls, Marion and Marit, are from Norway and judging by the looks of their video, one of them really likes eye shadow and the other loves red lipstick. Apparently this song was in the Pokemon movie. I guess that could make them famous among 7-year-old boys.
