Your Weight on the Moon
You may have heard that your weight would be different on the moon, but have you ever stopped to think about why, or how much it would vary?
First off, you don't magically get thinner when you travel to the moon. If you wear a size 10 on Earth, you'll still wear a size 10 when you're on the moon. The difference is gravity.
Gravity, as you probably know, is the force that pulls two objects together. It's also what holds us (and all of our stuff) to the ground here on Earth.
On the moon, the gravity isn't as strong. In fact, the Earth's gravity is about 6 times stronger than the moon's gravity, which means that anything that weighs 60 pounds here on Earth will weigh only 10 pounds on the moon.
