Do mini-calculations on the go!

Overview:
Although the Abacus Keychain is a fully functional abacus, we don't recommend using it to balance your checkbook.
First of all, we don't even know how to use an abacus. However, we have learned that in 1946, a Russian abacus schooled an electronic calculator in terms of speed of calculation.
So, it is quite possible that you could become quite proficient with your Abacus Keychain and impress your friends with your powerful arithmetic skills.

Abacus Keychain: Get your count on!

Some fun-facts about abaci (that's the plural form of abacus)
- The abacus was invented sometime between 1000 BC and 500 BC
- The abacus can be used for multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, square root and cube root (I'm not even sure what a cube root is).
- Learning our base-10 number system is surprisingly difficult (although us adults take it for granted). Apparently, a 6-year old learns to count to 100 by rote. They actually aren't aware of the patterns involved.
- Abaci are commonly used by the blind.
You will be infinitely more awesome if you carry the Abacus Keychain
While we do not have any quantitative research to support our assertation, empirical evidence suggests that people who carry the abacus keychain are more likely to:
- Fall asleep quickly. Counting sheep with an abacus is very tiring.
- Win big at the casino. Counting cards is much easier with an abacus. If confronted by security, simply state incredulously, "Seriously, who would count cards with an abacus?!"
- Impress the special person in your life. Let's say you take your hot date to the newest, fanciest restaurant in town. When it comes time to figure the tip, pull out your abacus keychain, slide the beads around in a James Bond-esque style and then state confidently, "Twenty percent. $18.72. Thanks, abacus keychain". We're sort of kidding. But we're dead serious.

Your Abacus Keychain will arrive in this nice gift box.
Because this product is currently retired, we can no longer accept new burning questions. Sorry!
Q: Can this abacus be used for non-decimal number systems like hexadecimal or binary?
A: You shouldn't have too much trouble using it for binary calculations. Since each place in the binary system is either "on" or "off", you could try sliding all beads up, or all beads down, to represent the 1 or 0.
If you need to do hexadecimal calculations, though, this probably isn't the abacus for you. With only 4 bars above and 4 bars below, we're not sure how you'd make that work. In fact, just thinking about it is giving us a headache.
