Interesting, yet somewhat random, facts about Lovebirds

• It is believed that lovebirds find their mates on Valentine's Day. Riiight.
• Europeans are responsible for spreading the popularity of lovebirds. Prior to their widespread writings of these colorful birds, they were largely unknown outside of Africa.
• Lovebirds can be trained to perform tricks and "talk". They can't, however, hold still and carry a small flower. So, ha!
• The only 100% accurate method for determing the sex of a lovebird is through DNA testing. You cannot make a sex determination by sight or touch. This begs the question as to how lovebirds find each other. I'm sure the Discovery channel has a special on it.
• Lovebirds usually live to be 15 to 20 years old.
