Treasure: Foosball Coffee Table

|

Foosball Coffee Table.jpg

The Foosball Coffee Table might not be the most sophisticated coffee table I've ever seen, but it definitely is one of the neatest. Foosball is fun and not everyone has a game room or a finished basement to store the table in, so this is a way to have a foosball table if you don't have a lot of extra space in your house.

Coffee tables aren't tall, so I understand why this isn't tall. But crouching down to play foosball is not ideal. Nonetheless, this table is still pretty awesome. At $499 with free shipping, that isn't a bad deal. Nice coffee tables without foosball playing capability can cost at least that much!

Treasure: Shopping Cart Chair

|

Shopping Cart Chair Gold.jpg

This chair that looks like a shopping cart is a miniature model (for $379.00 - yikes), but it would be awesome if it was full scale. Although it might not be a very comfortable chair, it is definitely very unique. It'd be quite a conversation piece and I think guests would tolerate sitting in it for a while just because it's neat.

We don't sell shopping cart chairs at Vat19.com, but we do sell a Mini Shopping Cart Caddy that is perfect for holding office supplies, candy and snacks, or letting Barbie push around. Best of all, it looks just like its full-sized counterpart and even has a working seat.

Treasure: Mississippi Clock

|

mississippi clock.jpg

Most people count off the seconds one of two ways - You're either a "one thousand" counter, or you're a "Mississippi" counter. If you, like me, are a member of the latter group, this clock is for you.

Instead of displaying hours and minutes, this clock displays the seconds, all the way from "one Mississippi" to "sixty Mississippi". Fun, huh? And just so you don't get too confused, there are twelve little arrows that mark the hours.

It's simple and stylish, yet quirky enough for people to take a second look. Now I just need to figure out why the heck it costs $100...

neatdesk.JPG

Oh NeatDesk, where have you been all my life?

The NeatDesk is a high-speed desktop scanner that can scan a bunch of your receipts, business cards, and documents all at once. That's enough to impress me, but hold on to your hats folks, there's more. After the items are scanned, the included NeatWorks software identifies and extracts the important information and automatically organizes it for you on your computer. Seriously, push one button and your documents become PDFs, your receipt information goes into an Excel spreadsheet or QuickBooks, and your business contacts are stored in a digital Roladex.

At about $350.00 a pop, it's quite an investment, but it would make an awesomely unique gift for anyone who is too busy - or too lazy - to keep up on their document organization.

Be sure to check out Vat19.com for more great items to keep you organized.

Treasure: All-Weather LCD HDTV

|

Outdoor flatscreen TV.JPG

There just aren't enough bars and restaurants with outdoor seating and TVs in St. Louis. Maybe that's because of the 99% humidity. It'd be awesome to have this All-Weather LCD HDTV to put out on a patio or deck so I could sit outside at home on a nice summer evening and watch a Cardinals game.

The price tag might scare you. If you want a TV that can withstand rain, heat, and sun, you'll have to spend about $5,000. But hey, it's 46" and you can watch TV outside!

Trash: Wine Glass Tank

|

glasstank1.JPG

The idea behind the Glass Tank is simple: Keep on drinking wine without having to refill your glass. It's not a bad idea at all. In fact, I'm sure many wine lovers out there would think it's a very good, perhaps even genius, idea.

However, the Glass Tank looks, quite frankly, ridiculous. And I'm sure it would be very awkward to hold and drink out of, especially after you've gotten to the last few gulps and are a bit (if not totally) inebriated. Oh, and it sells for $339.00. A little pricey, no?

Why not try the Bottle of Wine Glass instead? It looks like a regular wine glass but holds an entire bottle of wine. And it's only $11.95. Steal!

Treasure: Flybar

|

Need a unique gift for the daredevil in your family? Check out the Flybar 800.

flybar800.jpg

It may not look like much in the photo, but the Flybar 800 is pretty much a pogo stick on steroids. With a patented system of rubber spring elements (as opposed to the traditional steel) that can be adjusted for the needs of the rider, it can get you jumping over 4 feet in the air. Um, that's high. And if it's not high enough, you can get the Flybar 1200, which has the potential to get you soaring over 5 feet in the air. Frankly, I'd be scared to get on this thing, but the fun potential is so great that I just may have to try it if I ever got the chance.

At about $200-$250, the price tag is a little hefty, but the right gift recipient would probably love you forever.

Treasure: Stainless Steel CD Rack

|

Stainless Steel CD Rack.jpg

I know that everyone is crazy about MP3 players, and I did jump on that train years ago, but I'm still a bit old school and continue to buy CDs. I don't have my CDs displayed or anything, but I think this stainless steel CD rack is pretty cool.

It holds 112 CDs and mounts to the wall. Since the CDs are displayed both vertically and horizontally, it makes it look more like wall art than just a big metal shelf full of CDs. Maybe that's why it costs $271!

Treasure: Mayan Temple Desk

|

Mayan Temple Desk.jpg

If I had a million dollars and wanted to spend $5,000 of it, and if I was into Mayan history, and if I wanted to look ridiculous behind a huge desk, then I'd probably love the Mayan Temple Desk. It would be really funny to watch people walk into my office and end up with this staring them in the face...with me sitting behind it attempting to look serious. I don't think I'd be able to sit behind this desk and not laugh.

Don't get me wrong, this desk is very unique and artistic. The design is clever and it's neat that there are built in drawers and cabinets. However, I'm not into heavily themed decor.

Trash: Multi Bracelet

|

multi bracelet.jpg
This bracelet made out of multiple "cords" and 24K gold costs about $145. Are we for serious? It just looks like a bunch of hair rubber bands clasped together!

I like colorful bracelets and unique things, but this is completely overpriced. If you're looking for unique gifts at great prices, be sure to visit the Vat19.com store!

Treasure: Transparent Canoe/Kayak

|

clear canoe.jpg

This gorgeous vessel is an all-transparent two-passenger canoe/kayak from Clear Blue Hawaii, and omg, I want one. I also want to see that view every morning when I look out my window, but we can't always get what we want, can we?

But if you live anywhere with calm, clear waters just begging to be explored, and if you have an extra $1,800 or so lying around, this is the kayak for you. Made from the same polycarbonate material used in the production of bulletproof glass and fighter jet canopies, the kayak endured durability tests like intense crashing against rocky shorelines, 20-foot drops, hammer blows, and an ejection from a vehicle at 70mph. (Sounds like an average day at MythBusters, if you ask me.) However, the maker still recommends just using the vessel in calm conditions - no white water or surf kayaking. I suppose this means I could use it for floating the Midwestern rivers near me like the Mississippi, although I'm not sure I'd really see much through those muddy waters besides, well, mud.

If you're lucky enough to live near waters rich with aquatic life, though, this kayak is a great way to see it all without having to strap on bulky diving or snorkeling equipment.

Treasure: Granite Fire Pit Table

|

Fire Pit Table.jpg

Does an outdoor table get any cooler than this? The center of the table can be a regular fire pit, a gas grill, or an ice bucket. During the summer you can put a patio umbrella in the center instead. Talk about versatile!

Bar height tables probably aren't the norm for outdoor furniture, but I like it. It makes it easy for people to sit at the table on bar stools or stand at the table and not make the people standing feel awkward. The granite makes it look very nice and also makes it very expensive. The base price is $2,359.00! This table is cool, but not that cool.

Not into the bar height? Check out this dining height granite table with a fire pit.
