Keeps your coffee warm without overheating

Simply plug the included cord into your car's 12V power adapter to keep your coffee warm. Of course, it'll work with any beverage. The heated travel mug includes a thermostatic device to keep your drink from overheating.

In our tests, the car adapter keeps your beverage at approximately 155° Fahrenheit. We had started with 175° coffee and it held it at 155° for 2 hours -- that's when we stopped testing (read: woke up).

Save time by using the same cord for both the car and the office

The car adapter plug can be permanently left in your car. Simply unplug the USB cable from the power adapter, take the cord into the office, and plug it into your computer.

Use the same adapter to keep coffee warm in your car and at your office
The Dual Auto/USB Heated Travel Mug comes with a USB cord and a car power.
The simple setup makes it easy to take your coffee mug from the car to the office and back.

Keep your fanciest coffees warmer, longer

We're not going to judge you for buying $50 coffee. If we did, you'd have the right to judge us for paying $200 for Dave Matthews tickets. What?! I like their music. Sue me.

The point is that if you're going to pay good money for a hot beverage, you might as well keep it as hot as you can for as long as you can. That's what the Dual Auto / USB Heater Mug does. It slows down the natural cooling of your beverage. Since this heated travel mug can be used in both your car and your office, you can enjoy that beverage for a pretty long time.

This Heated Coffee Mug can plug into any USB port.

Use the thumb slide to quickly prevent a spill

The press-on spill-proof lid has a convenient thumb slide for one-handed "on/off" operation of your travel mug. Pretty smart.

We ran tests! See the results below:

We dusted off our middle school science books and looked up how to conduct a proper scientific experiment. OK, we're lying. We looked it up on Wikipedia.

Anyway, we heated up a pot of coffee to 175 degrees. We poured the coffee into 3 different Dual Auto/USB Heated Travel Mugs. The first mug was plugged into a car, the second mug was plugged into a computer, and the third mug was left at room temperature (not plugged in at all).

Mug in Car Mug at Computer Mug at Room Temp
Start 175° F 175° F 175° F
After 30 mins. 158° F 147° F 145° F
After 60 mins. 158° F 140° F 130° F
After 90 mins. 155° F 132° F 120° F

So, as you can see, the Dual Auto / USB Heater Mug definitely slows down the cooling of the coffee mug. In fact, it hardly cools down in the car. Since a USB port outputs less power than a cigarette lighter, it doesn't do quite as well. The coffee mug at room temperature obviously does the worst. However, it still works as well as a general-purpose travel mug. After 90 minutes, it only dropped 56 degrees. But, you would have downed that café latté by then, right?

Frequently Asked Questions about the Dual Auto / USB Heater Mug

Question: How long is the heated mug's cord?

Answer: It's a stretchable cord. Without stretching, it's about 2.5 feet long. It can comfortably stretch to about 5 feet. This is no problem for the car. You an always add a USB extension cable if this isn't long enough for the office.

Question: Is the heated coffee mug's top 100% spill proof? Can I fill it up with 400° water and hold it upside down over my co-worker's head without killing them?

Answer: We don't suggest trying that. What we've found is that the lid is spill-proof, but not 100% watertight. What that means is that if you knock it over, nothing is going to come out. If you hold your heated coffee mug upside down and shake it, a tiny bit may dribble out from around the slit beneath the thumb slide. But, since the lid has a half inch rim, any errant droplets aren't going to get onto your clothes, keyboard, or TPS reports.

Question: Will the Dual Auto/USB Heater Mug heat up my cold pizza?

Answer: We don't suggest putting pizza into your heated travel mug. The point of the mug is to keep drinks warm by slowing down the speed at which they naturally cool down. What we're saying is that it's not going to take a 35° soda and heat it up to 150°. However, if you put a hot beverage into your heated travel mug, it's going to slow down the natural cooling effect significantly.

Your questions that have been answered by the Vat19.com staff

Q: I have several multipurpose usb/ac/vehicle chargers. Can the Travel Mug work with the usb end plugged into a usb/ac adapter for indoor use without a computer?
A: There shouldn't be any problems using the mug's USB cord with a standard USB/AC adapter.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Can you use the USB adapter with other USB powered things like, say, the lava lamp?
A: It's possible, but definitely proceed with caution - there are no guarantees. The Auto/USB Heater Mug is designed to handle the 12V from the car. A USB Lava Lamp might be rated for a much lower voltage, so it may not be able to handle it.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: can you adjust the temperature manually?
A: No, the temperature on the Auto and USB Heater Mug cannot be adjusted.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: If I put cold water in the mug. How long does it take before the water is hot? Is it possible to warm een baby bottle (filled with breastmilk) in the cup? I mean is the neck wide enough ?
A: Because the Auto/USB Heater Mug is designed to keep hot things hot (as opposed to warming up cold things), it would take quite a while to actually heat something up from room temperature or less. As far as baby bottles are concerned, you may be able to get a small bottle into the top of the cup, but it would probably be too narrow near the bottom of the mug. Due to the imperfect fit between the bottle and the mug, you'd probably find that it doesn't transfer heat very well at all.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Do you sell replacement power adapters and cables
A: No, we do not sell the power cable separately.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is there any way to get just the two sliding pieces for the top of the mug.Mine no longer stay in the covers slotted gloves. Please let me know thanks Sandra
A: We do not sell extra lids for the Auto/USB Heated Mug. We haven't heard of this problem, so please call us at 1-800-476-1991 so we can look up your order and do our best to help.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Will I be able to get another cord to take that one's place when it no longer heats the mug, instead buying everything all over, when the mug is still good?
A: We do not sell cords individually. However, it would be quite odd and rare for the cord to stop working.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: How about keeping thin soups hot? Ever tested it for that? I would assume it would work well, but I will wait for your answer before I order! :)
A: We have not tested soups in the Auto and USB Heated Mug. We would guess that it would slow down the natural cooling process of soup, although we can't say whether it would work as well with soup as it would coffee or tea.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Do you have a replacement cord
A: No, we do not sell the cord separately.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: I have an appropriate mug. Is it possible to purchase just the cord?
A: No. We don't have the ability to purchase the Auto/USB Mug's cord separately, so we can only sell the two pieces together. On the bright side, having two mugs means that you still have a mug to use when the other is dirty.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Can these coffee mugs be personalized with a company logo?
A: Vat19 does not offer imprinting, but many imprinting companies will add your logo to an item even if you did not purchase the item through them.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: will the drink taste like metal? i have a similar stainless mug and the coffee / tea tastes like metal.
A: When we tested this heated mug, we did not think that it made the coffee taste like metal. We used plain black coffee, no flavorings or anything fancy.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is the internal mug lining plastic or stainless steel?
A: The inside of the Auto/USB Heated Mug is stainless steel.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is the mug heated by heated elements or by liquid in the double cylinder?
A: The Dual Auto USB Heater Mug uses heating elements. There isn't any liquid in the double cylinder.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is the lid screw on or is it push on / pull off?
A: The lid does not screw on. You can push it on and pull it off. There is a seal surrounding the lid that helps keep it secure and airtight.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is there a datasheet on the voltage/current tolerances of the mug? I'm interested in the product, but if I purchased it, I would want to make my own wall outlet converter to get maximum performance.
A: We've contacted our manufacturer, and unfortunately they do not have the data you are looking for. You could possibly use a USB to AC adapter from a local electronics store.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Q: I love the idea of this mug but not the idea of having to clean it by hand....can it go in the dishwasher?
A: You might be able to get away with it a few times (the plug on the side does have a cover), but we recommend hand washing for best results.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Are there USB drivers for a Mac for this? Does it stay warmer longer if you use a USB 2.0 port?
A: You do not need any drivers to use the Dual Auto / USB Heater Mug. It's only using the power from the USB port. The type of USB port won't have an effect on the mug's heating capabilities.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Will the product be suitable to work in all cars including cars overseas?
A: As long as the DC outlet in the car is 12V, the Dual Auto USB Heater Mug will work.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: How can a 5V supply from USB heat up the liquid content (i'm not mentionin pizza!)??
A: It won't. The Auto/USB Heater Mug is for keeping hot things hot, not warming up cold things. Between the natural insulation of the mug and the added power of the USB port, the mug keeps your coffee, tea, or other warm beverage at a pleasantly hot, drinkable temperature for much longer than a normal mug would.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: It looks like the cord might interfere with placing the mug into a standard car cup holder. Is that true?
A: The part where you plug in the cord is positioned high enough up on the mug so that it does not get in the way of a standard cup holder.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: I suppose I'm obsessed with drinking hot tea all day long? I was wondering if it was alright to put the mug onto another mug warmer, for when I'm away from a USB port. The rubber: safe under heat?
A: Unless you're setting the mug on an extremely hot surface (like the cooktop of an electric stove), you shouldn't have any problems. You'll want to be careful, though, if you heat the outside of the mug, as it will get much warmer when you heat it from the outside.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: The only way to have water at 400 F is to maintain a pressure of 247 psig. The mug's structural integrity would likely not sustain this amount of pressure for long and hot coffee would be everywhere.
A: Thanks for the input. Looks like that's one more vote for "don't test the mug's seal with 400 degree water".
