The SleepMate 980A white noise machine masks the annoying and distracting noises that make it difficult to sleep.

While turning on a fan or keeping the air conditioner running can produce a constant "hum", these devices typically produce sound in a repeatable pattern, which in itself is distracting. Plus, a ceiling fan or air conditioner does not mask out unwanted noises from neighbors or the street.

There is a big difference between a household machine that generates a low "hum" and a white noise generator. Basically, a white noise machine produces random sound in nearly every frequency that we humans can hear.

By "covering" all of these frequencies with random noise, the white noise machine effectively blankets or blocks distracting noises. A refrigerator that hums, on the other hand, is only generating noise in a small frequency band. Thus, it's not going to mask out talking neighbors, barking dogs, or the random creaking of a house. Plus, a "humming" device in your house may stop humming or change its tone or frequency right as you're about to fall asleep.

Easy to operate

The SleepMate 980A is incredibly easy to use. Simply plug in the generous 8 foot cord and flip the switch to one of two speeds (high and low). You can further adjust the sound of the white noise machine by twisting the collar or the cap of the device. Twisting the collar adjusts the volume and turning the cap slightly adjusts the tone of the noise.

A: The Sleepmate White Noise Machine is 110 volts.

Q: is it possible to use earphones so my husband can't hear the noise
A: Because airflow determines the actual sounds generated by the SleepMate, you can't silence the product and use headphones.

Q: My apartment is next to the street. Can the white noise eliminate the noise from the street?
A: That would depend on how noisy your street is. However, even if it didn't completely eliminate the noise, it would certainly improve the sound quality in your room.

Q: REMOTE CONTROL???????
A: No, the SleepMate does not have a remote control. You have to manually adjust it.

Q: hi, i will need to buy a converter if i am to use this in australia. can you tell me the wattage please?
A: The SleepMate 980A uses 38 Watts.

Q: can the white noise block off the barking noise of dog in next doors garden
A: The SleepMate White Noise Machine isn't going to hide extremely loud sounds, but if the barking is from a distance, it should definitely help.

Q: How loud is the SleepMate in decibels?
A: Determining the decibel output on our products is very subjective in relation to where the unit is placed versus where it is actually being heard. With this being said all of our models have a decibel rating no greater than 70 decibels when volume levels are measured from a distance of approximately 12 inches.

Q: My mother has the TV on 24/7and is loud when she sleeps. I sleep in next room and the TV keeps me awake. Would this machine help both of us sleep better.
A: If your mother needs background noise to fall asleep, the SleepMate White Noise Machine can certainly help her. If you are trying to drown out the noise from her TV, the SleepMate can also help with that.

Q: does it stop snoring sounds?
A: Unfortunately, the SleepMate White Noise Machine won't stop the snoring sounds. It will, however, drown them out a bit and make it more bearable. The amount it can drown them out will depend on how loud of a snorer you're dealing with.
