A: No. The straight straw pieces are made of polypropelyne, and the connectors (which feel rubbery) are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). Both are common food-grade plastics.

Q: Why are they not recommended for children under 6? I would like to buy them for some 4 and 5 year olds.
A: The only reason the Strawz are not recommended for children under six is the small pieces in the set. There is a risk of children swallowing the small connectors. However, with proper adult supervision, four and five-year-olds should be able to use and enjoy them with no problems.
