Overview

The Flameless Flare is to the traditional flare what sliced bread is to unsliced bread. It's a LOT better...especially when making a sandwich.

Seriously, the Flameless Flare is an incredibly useful roadside emergency product. The LED bulb will last forever and the magnetic base allows you to stick it to any surface of your car (well, unless your car is plastic).

Requires 2 AAA batteries which are included.

All drivers should carry an emergency road flare

In a 2006 study sponsored by the Transportation Research Board (trb.org), the use of flares was found to have a significant and positive effect on passing vehicle speed, lane distribution, and separation from the roadway edge.

Annually, nearly 350,000 parked/disabled motor vehicle (PDMV) crashes occur in the U.S. in which an average of 507 occupants and non-motorists are killed and over 30,000 people are injured.

Reasons for buying a flameless safety flare:

  • Long life: Traditional road flares burn out in 15 minutes. The Flameless Flare LED safety flare will run for 250 hours continuously. The LED bulb never needs replacing. Simply replace the AAA batteries. Two AAA batteries are included.
  • Reusable: The Flameless Safety Flare is reusable. The flashing LED light never needs replacing. Just swap out the batteries when they are dead.
  • Magnet: The high-powered magnet at the bottom of the unit allows you to place the Flameless Flare on the roof, trunk, hood, or side of your car for maximum visibility. It will never blow over (which is extremely dangerous with a traditional road flare).
  • Distance: The flashing light can be seen from up to 1,000 ft.
  • Map light: It doubles as a map light. The Flameless Flare can be set to flash or to stay on continuously. The red LED light will not disrupt your night vision when you need to check out a map.
  • Back-up hazard light: The Flameless Flare can be used as an alternative to your hazard lights to prevent battery drain or if your battery is dead.

We love the Flameless Safety Flare, and so will you

Flameless Flare LED Safety Flare comes with two AAA batteries
The Flameless Flare comes with 2 AAA batteries.

We don't know about you, but the idea of striking up a traditional safety flare on the side of the road does not sound like a good time. It's kind of like holding onto a nuclear-powered super sparkler. Not fun. Plus, traditional flares burn out in about 15 minutes. The Flameless Flare has a magnetic base. Your normal road flare doesn't, so if you put it on the side of the road while you're trying to change a tire, it could get blown around by the wind or passing cars. Great, now the nuclear-powered super sparkler is mobile.

The other big reason why we're huge fans of the Flameless Flare Safety Flare is that it uses an LED light and comes with batteries. You can just toss this guy into your glove compartment and it's ready to go when you need it.

The map light is a good feature, too, but since we never, ever get lost while driving, we probably won't use it too much... (that last sentence employs that new-fangled comedic device known as sarcasm).

Burning Questions: You Ask and We Answer

Burning Questions: You ask and we answer!
Your questions that have been answered by the Vat19.com staff:
Is this waterproof?
The Flameless Flare is water resistant, not waterproof. It will be OK in the rain for a while, but it cannot remain submerged in water for a prolonged period of time because water would eventually get to the batteries.
is it flammable?
The Flameless Safety Flare is non-flammable and is battery operated.
Is this DOT approved?
We have contacted the manufacturer and have done some additional research and found that the DOT and NHTSA do not approve equipment.
will the flare break easily if it is run over by a car. I want to lay them down when my car break down as warning?
We don't suggest running over the Flameless Flare with your car. However, with its magnetic base, you won't need to lay them out around your car. Rather, you can stick them directly to your vehicle.
Discount for quantity?
If you order more than one Flameless Flare, you'll receive a discount of $1 off each flare.
Do you give military discounts? How much?
Actually, we offer all customers the same great discount on bulk purchases of the Flameless Flare. If you buy more than one, you'll get $1 off each. Please give us a call at 800.476.1991 if you have any other questions about our discounts.
If I dipped this in gasoline and shorted out the wire, would it be a fire hazard?
As they say in the country: Never pick a blackberry after September 31st. So, yes, this may constitute a fire hazard.
Is it just me or is this flameless flare not very bright by comparison to a traditional flare?
Yes, a traditional roadside flare is brighter than the Flameless Flare because a roadside flare's light source is generated through combustion. The Flameless Flare is more akin to a flashlight, and thus less bright than a super-charged sparkler. However, both still accomplish the same goal of alerting passing motorists to your situation. The difference is that the Flameless Flare is not going to burn out or burn you and can be attached to your car's body. The Flameless Flare is also a lot easier to start than a traditional roadside flare.
Is it WATERPROOF?
The Flameless Flare is water resistant, not waterproof. It will be OK in the rain for a while, but it cannot remain submerged in water for a prolonged period of time because water would eventually get to the batteries.
How dark does it have to be to be seen from 1000 feet away. Also is it possible to increase the brightness?
The darker it is outside, the more the light of the Flameless Flare will stand out against the darkness. The brightness cannot be adjusted.
How about placing the flare 100 ft. in back of the disabled vehicle? Can you lay it down like a flame type flare? How about keeping a metal base handy that the flare will stick to and place it 100 ft. in back and in front of the disabled vehicle?
You certainly can, though we do not have any plans to include metal bases for such a use.
is it bright in the day time?
The Flameless Flare is not nearly as bright and noticeable in daylight as it is in darkness.
Good for camping?
I certainly think so! Unlike a regular flare, you wouldn't have to worry about starting a fire in the woods with the Flameless Flare.
Will this thing handle a drop or a fall w/o malfunctioning?
That depends on what you mean by a "drop or fall". Will it survive being dropped a few feet? Absolutely. Will it survive being dropped from an airplane? Probably not. It's exactly as durable as it needs to be.
Can it be used as a nightlight?
We suppose so, but the Flameless Flare is not intended for children.
Why is the flameless flare not intended for children?
For one, children shouldn't be driving or assisting motorists in emergency situations. This is an emergency device, not a toy.
What is a flare in the first place?
Flares (in this context) are illuminated devices that warn nearby motorists of disabled vehicles.
can i use replaceable AAA batteries in it?
Yes, you can use rechargeable batteries in the Flameless Flare.
So, is the magnet like the cherry on top?
You could say that, but we prefer to think of it as "the magnet on the bottom".
Can it be used as an emergency light at home?
I suppose, but I can't think of too many instances where this would be any better than a regular flashlight.
Why does it look so dim in the video?
Lights can be very difficult to capture on film, however the Flameless Flare really is pretty bright and highly visible.
It doesn't look as bright as a regular flare in the pictures. Just how bright is it, you guy?
It's bright enough to be visible from nearly 1,000 feet.
Is it as bright as a regular flare?
It's bright enough to make yourself visible to other motorists up to 1,000 feet away.
how many lumens does the flame less flare give off on full battery?
We don't have a precise measurement of the lumens the flare puts out, but it's visible from about 1000 feet away.
Will this work on bikes? :D
Assuming your bike is made of a metal that can hold a magnet, sure.
Wait... Does the map says St. Paul??
It most certainly does. Good eye!
Would you recommend this for a young female driver?
We recommend them for all drivers. It's always better to be prepared.
Would the flameless flare be bright enough to be able to signal passing aircraft in the wilderness?
The Flameless Flare is visible from up to 1,000 ft. So, unless the aircraft is flying fairly low and you've bought enough Flameless Flares to spell out a "I'M STUCK IN THE WOODS" message, you may be out of luck.
