Q: Can you purchase for a couple? For example, buy a present that includes both a Laird and Lady? If so, how much is it?

Q: So if I buy one million dollars worth of these id get 20,000 square feet of land?
A: Actually, it would be 20,020 one-square-foot pieces of land. There is no guarantee that the land will be next to each other if more than one is bought. No planning permission is given to the land owner, as the nature of the gift is to raise money to preserve the landscape.

A: The cost of the registration is included in the cost of purchasing the gift set. Registration is super easy - you can do it online!

Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: How does this work, in terms of the Scottish legal system? Does this mean that technically any landowners in Scotland are, by definition, Lords/Ladies?
A: The title "Laird" means landowner. This gift makes you a landowner in Scotland and therefore entitles you to use the title of "Laird". It can be used by both men and women, but female Lairds may prefer to use "Lady" as it a commonly accepted equivalent. The landowners in Scotland are not called "Lord" as this is a British aristocratic title.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

A: You will own the land indefinitely. The owners of the Laird's Retreat are not allowed to sell it.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: DO I have to pay for Laird's retreat?
A: You do not have to pay for the Laird's Retreat. Part of the gift gives you a Proof of Title card, which is used to show you are entitled to have access to the Laird's Retreat.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Would you have to pay yearly taxes?
A: No, you are not responsible for any taxes on the property.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Can I buy this in advance to give it to someone special later? As in, perhaps years later?
A: The Become a Laird of Lady Gift Set does have an expiration date for the registration. The expiration date is about 2 years from the time of purchase.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Does the title transfer with marriage. Such as if you're a Laird and you get married, will your wife be Lady?
A: No, the Laird or Lady Gift Box only grants one title - either Laird or Lady. So, even if you are a Laird and get married, your lady won't legally be a Lady with a capital "L". The title can be inherited, though, so your son can become a Laird.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Hey, will you be selling the same land that I bought to OTHER people? please be honest. My mom + Dad are thinking that even though you sell the piece of land to me, u will sell it 2 other pplz.
A: A plot is only sold once, so you and you alone are officially (and legally) the sole owner of your piece of land. This benefits both you (since you can call yourself Laird or Lady) and the conservation trust, as they'll be able to preserve more and more of the Scottish countryside.
