Q: I have some books that are 9" deep. Too big, I assume for the standard size. Are they too small for the large? Will a 9" book on an invisible shelf designed for a 10" book render it visible?
A: A 9" deep book will fit on the Large size Conceal Shelf. The bottom of the shelf itself sticks out about 6" from the wall, so the shelf will not be seen if the book is more than 6" deep.

Q: do you have to put a hardcover book?
A: You will need at least one hardcover book at the bottom of the stack. The back cover of the book will be inserted into the lip of the conceal shelf to hide the support. A paperback book is too flimsy and not durable enough for this purpose.

A: As long as you exercise an appropriate amount of care while placing books in your Conceal Bookshelf, they won't be damaged.

A: It takes about 4-5 medium-sized books to cover up the shelf's bracket and make it "invisible". We sure hope you have at least that many books in your home. If not, we suggest trucking it on over to the bookstore. Reading is fun!

Q: Approximately how many large hardcover books does it take to weigh 20lbs?
A: We can't say for sure, as hardcover books come in so many sizes, thicknesses, and weights. How many you can stack all depends on the books you use. A hardcover novel, for example, might weight just 1 or 2 lbs, so you could stack 10-20 of those. But a textbook could weigh 3-4 lbs, so you'd probably want to stop stacking at 4 or 5.

Q: Can you put a game console on the shelf or a dish box?
A: You wouldn't get the same "floating" effect as you do with books, because you'd still see the bracket. But if your console or box is small enough to fit on the shelf (5.5"x5"for the Standard and 7"x6.25"for the Large), then sure, it could work!

Q: I see that the larger one can hold books up to 10 inches in depth but was wondering how deep the actual bracket is. I'm looking to stack books that are only 6 inches deep, will that be too short?
A: The bracket on the Standard Conceal Shelf is a little over 5" in depth, so your books will work well with that one. The bracket on the Large Conceal Shelf is about 6.25" deep.
