A: Sorry for the confusion! You can fill the tube with water and freeze it. However, the manufacturer does not recommend doing this because if you overfill the tube, it can crack as the water turns to ice. It is safer to fill the tube with ice cubes.

Q: If you are a smart person and paid attention in elementary science class, and don't fill the plastic tube 100% full of water, couldn't it be acceptable to freeze the tube?
A: Even if you filled the tube half-way with water, it's still going to expand in all directions when frozen, potentially cracking the tube insert. If you laid the tube horizontally while freezing and only filled it partially with water, you would probably be OK. However, we still find it much easier (and quicker) to simply toss some ice cubes into the tube insert. Please remember, though, that freezing the tube isn't recommended by the manufacturer.

A: The glass is not tempered. The Kufra Pitcher is dishwasher-safe, but it is not meant to hold very hot liquids.

A: A Ziploc bag looks a little shoddy, whereas the Kufra Pitcher's ice tube looks nice and clean. If you used a Ziploc, you'd need to buy a pitcher. With this, you get both in one purchase.
