Where are these huggers from, their place of origin?
The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers were designed in the United States and manufactured in Thailand.
I broke one of the shakers. Is it possible to buy one of these separately?
Sorry, the "Hug" Salt and Pepper Shakers only come as a pair. I think they'd be super sad if we ever tried to sell one without the other. However, you can buy another set and have the your extra one as a backup. Two's company, three's a party!
is it a possibility that you could make some for cinnamon and nutmeg? it would be great for having friend over for hot coco.
We're not a manufacturer, but I don't see why you couldn't put nutmeg or ground cinnamon in these shakers already.
where does? the salt and pepper get out?
On the Hugs' faces (the eyes and mouth are the holes).
Could I paint these other colours, such as blue with my own paints?
I suppose you could but it might not adhere very well to the already existing paint. Are you trying to make it look like Bloo from Foster's Home by any chance?
Where has this been all my life??
Right here at Vat19!
Is this a static object or do the shakers actively engage in the act of hugging?
The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers are fixed objects, and must be placed in the hug position.
Rick, you're smart. I'm confused, which is yin and which is yang? Thanks!
According to Wikipedia, Yin is the darker half and Yang is the lighter half.
I would love to buy this product but I have a cat who likes to knock things over… What is it made out of and will it break easily?
As we mention at the top of the page, the shakers are made of ceramic. This means that a tumble onto a hard floor might break them.
The Spoon positioning doesn't look anything like a spoon. Why is this?
It's not really supposed to look like a spoon. "Spooning" is when you hug someone from behind.
I'm from north korea, ship here?
At this time we are only able to ship to South Korea. A full list of countries we are able to ship to can be found
here.
Could you use them together, while they're still hugging, or will they break?
I suppose you could clasp them together in one hand and use them both at once. They are made of ceramic, so just try not to clank them together with too much force.
do you ship to Australia?
Yes, we can ship to Australia.
If I fill one of the shakers with milk, will it leak out of the bottum? Or any other liqiuds other then milk?
The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers were not made to hold liquids, so it's possible that there may be a small leak at the bottom. We recommend sticking to salt and pepper.
Of what material are they constructed? Plastic...ceramic, etc.
The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers are ceramic.
Do you have dark blue and white hug salt and pepper shakers?
We do not. The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers are only available in black and white.
Has any one put salt in the pepper shaker, and vice versa?
Only people who hate their dinner guests.
What if they start getting dirty then what do we do?
Clean them with soap and water. Hugging Salt and Pepper shakers are just made of porcelain.
How much salt/pepper does this hold? Also, when your fill them up doesn't some seasoning fall out the holes?
Each piece holds several tablespoons of spice. When you fill the shaker, just make sure the face is facing up and that you do not overfill it and you should have no problems with salt or pepper spilling out.
Do the salt and pepper shakers come in other colors?
No, the Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers are only available in black and white.
Cool!
Yep!
I have these! They are sooo cute! Do you agree?
Of course we agree that the Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers are sooo cute!
Why isn't there a brown shaker for cumin, cinnamon, or nutmeg? C'mon - at least offer it as a seasonal item for Hispanic Heritage Month!
The Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers' coloring doesn't have anything to do with race. The white one is for salt since salt is white, and the black one is for pepper since pepper is black. Plus, a set of three wouldn't be able to hug!
Can you put other spices,Like Cinnamon maybe?
You can fill your shaker with whatever you want. Just don't forget what you put in there.
I would like to order between 70-100 of these as wedding facous, can you supply this many and if so what are the costs invloved? Also if not, can you recommend a supplier?
Please call Beth at 1-800-476-1991 for bulk order pricing and information.
Hi,
Do you ship to Singapore?
How much will the shipping charges be and the approx time it would take for the package to reach.
Thanks.
Yes, we can ship to Singapore. Please click on the green "Calculate Shipping" link at the top of the product page (right below the price) to find out shipping costs and transit times. Please note that all transit times are estimated.
Hmm.. the spots/holes on the shaker where the salt and pepper comes out aren't very large. Must take awhile for the salt/pepper to come out then. hmph!
The holes aren't really smaller than those on any other salt or pepper shaker. You don't want huge amounts of salt or pepper pouring out onto your food, do you?
Like hugs, I've found ceramic products to be quite breakable if handled even slightly wrong. Can these manage tough love?
The Hugs Salt & Pepper Shakers are not unbreakable, so don't be too rough with them.
I noticed that someone called this product 'kawii'. I would like to note that, while your definition of the word is correct, the spelling of the word is wrong. The proper romanized spelling of the Japanese word for cute is 'kawaii'.
Thanks for setting us straight!
These salt shakers are so cute! Who came up with the design?
The Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers were designed by Alberto Mantilla.
So where does said salt and pepper come out? The mouth and eyes?
Correct.
Is there a mark at the bottom of the Shakers to indicate who the designer is?
The pepper shaker (the black one) does not have anything marked on the bottom. The salt shaker (the white one) has the designer's name and the manufacturer on the bottom.
Will pepper fit into the white salt shaker so as to not be politically incorrect?
You're welcome to load your shakers however you like. Of course, you should also consider that your shakers may actually enjoy their respective traditional spice associations.
Do we only have to put salt and pepper in, or could we put any other spices? You guys are AWESOME BTW :p
You can fill the shakers with anything you want as long as it's small enough to fit through the holes.
You say you ship worldwide, you dont ship to north korea. Liers
There's a difference between shipping worldwide and shipping to every country in the world (which we never claim to be able to do).
Can I find that in france?
Although we don't know if the Hug Salt and Pepper Shaker sets are sold at stores in France, we do know that you can order a set right here on Vat19.com and we ship to France.
Safe to paint on?
The shakers are already glazed, so any additional paint wouldn't last for very long.
Do they come with patterns on them?
Nope. The ghost-like figures do not have any patterns on them.
where these made with "foster's home for imaginary friends" in mind because they look like bloo from there...
and would it be possible to paint them blue to look e ven more like bloo
I think it's just a coincidence but you are welcome to paint them whatever color you like.
I'm from the middle east, can you ship here?
It depends on which country in the Middle East you are referring to. You can view all the countries to which we offer shipping
here.
do you shake salt and pepper at the holes?
Yes, the holes on the figure's faces are where the salt and pepper shake out.
is this the price for one set or more
The price is for one set (which includes both a salt and pepper shaker).
Dishwasher safe?
They're made of ceramic, so yes. Not many people run their salt and pepper shakers through the dishwasher though.
I was going to buy these for my mother for christmas and i saw that they look like ghosts. Could my mom use these as a halloween decoration?
Sure! Harmony is great all year!
Does it include salt and pepper when I get it?
No. You will have to use your own salt and pepper.
Is this supposed to make a statement about racial equality? If so, I will definitely consider buying one. If not, I will still consider buying one, but I won't be as amused.
We're not that deep, but we don't see why you couldn't see things that way. Your salt and pepper shakers won't argue.
Is there a bottom to the objects? I can't see a bottom in any of the three views, and would not want my spices to fall out of the objects when I pick them up as the pepper that I buy is expensive.
Yes. The Hug Salt & Pepper Shakers have a very tight plastic seal that you remove from the bottom to refill the shakers.
i'm sorry for questioning your awesomeness but why is this so awesome there just a normal salt and pepper shaker
What's not awesome about hugging salt and pepper shakers? Besides, they promote racial harmony and sort of look like Bloo from "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", two things which are incredibly awesome!
Is there any other merchandise based off these shakers?
We're not aware of any products based on this hug design.
Does the salt or pepper come out of the face area?
Yes, both shakers have three holes in the face area.
Are they also available in different color? Like red and black for example.
The authentic Hug Salt and Pepper Shakers are only made in black and white. While we have seen other colors, it is our understanding that these are knock-offs.
