We're just gonna say it: This Trebuchet is the "bee's knees"

What we're attempting to communicate is that the Working Wood Trebuchet kit is the cat's pajamas. It's the eel's ankle and the elephant's instep rolled into one snake hip. It's the "b's and e's" (be-all and end-all) of Trebuchet's. If you're not following our 1920's hipster language, perhaps we should expound in Middle English: Þæt wæs god cyning! Translation: "Buy the Trebuchet from Vat19.com and many splendor Þæt will come your way."

Working Wood Trebuchet Kit
The Working Wood Trebuchet Kit is easy to assemble and flings objects up to 20 feet!

Perfect size for indoor sieges

The Trebuchet Kit is just the right size for indoor bedeviling. The Trebuchet, compared to the Catapult, is slightly more sophisticated and capable of flinging objects further.

Instead of relying on the tension created by a twisted rope, like a catapult, the Working Wood Trebuchet uses a counterweight system. Fill the box, or carriage, with heavy ballast such as small rocks, marbles, shame or guilt (you'd be amazed at their weight). The box rests on the short arm of a lever and is held aloft by a pin. When the pin is released, the box drops down and your ammo is flung toward your enemy's castle.

The Working Wood Trebuchet is perfect for indoor or outdoor mischievery.

Does not require a union carpenter to assemble

The Authentic Working Wood Trebuchet Kit only requires glue and scissors to put together. Although the manufacturer states that it will take 1-2 hours to build, it really only takes about 45 minutes. We did the whole thing pretty quickly with only having to glance at the instructions a few times. Hey, we were darned excited about being able to lay siege to a pillow fort! So, stop dilly-daddling and buy, buy, buy!

Q: What is the maximum size and weight of an object I can throw with this one? And is it different with the catapult?
A: Both the trebuchet and the catapult come with a ball of modeling clay that represents the weight and size object that the manufacturer recommends for safe use. It's about the size of a superball. You can see it in action in our video above.

Q: I have lost the directions to this Trebuchet. where can I get another set of directions?
A: If you have a fax machine, please call us so we can look up your order and fax you a copy of the Trebuchet Kit directions.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: do you have online instructions for this trebuchet, or is it only for the kit?
A: The Trebuchet Kit instructions are not available online.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Is this the most awesomest siege device ever?
A: Yes. Thank you for noticing.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: can it launch a tennis ball up to 6 meters away
A: The trebuchet comes with a ball of modeling clay that represents the weight and size object that the manufacturer recommends for safe use. It's about the size of a superball, and the trebuchet can shoot it about 20 feet, which is a little over 6 meters. Since we've never tried it, we're not sure how far a tennis ball would go.

Q: How is the weight released from the pouch?
A: The pouch rests on the short arm of a lever and is held up by a pin. When the pin is released, the pouch drops down and your ammo is flung toward your target. Watch our Working Wood Trebuchet Kit video to see in action.

Q: what other type of wood could it be made of besides pine
A: All of the Catapult and Trebuchet kits that we sell are made out of pine.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: This video doesn't play, but all of the others do.
A: We just tested it out, and the video played just fine. Your browser may be blocking it for some reason.

Q: will it throw a normal golf ball more than 2 meters?
A: We've never tested a golf ball, so we can't be 100% certain. Our guess is that it would, but we can't guarantee it.

Q: are airsoft bbs heavy enough to fill the carriage?
A: The weight necessary to hurl a load depends on what you are loading and distance desired. However, we don't think airsoft bbs are quite heavy enough for the carriage. We suggest small pebbles.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: FYI: if you don't hold down the trebuchet, the rocking motion will throw the object further.
A: Thanks for the tip. Although, it's still probably safer to hold down the trebuchet when shooting. You don't want any errant flying objects (or errant trebuchets) to injury anyone.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: what kind of wood is it made out of?
A: The Trebuchet and Catapult Kits are made out of an all natural, untreated pine.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: how do u bput this things together
A: The Working Wood Trebuchet Kit comes with step by step directions that are easy to follow. You only need scissors and glue to make this awesome medieval weapon.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Which of your products would I need to launch a full can of unopened beer to one of my friends sitting out of arms reach?
A: Unless you're working with teeny-tiny cans of unopened beer, our Catapults and Trebuchets won't be of much use for that purpose.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: Can I fill the counterweight with lead shot, or would it be too heavy?
A: That would depend on the size of the lead shot. You can view the Wikipedia entry for the term "lead shot" to view a chart of different sizes. While we haven't tested it, we suspect that several of the smaller sizes could work with the Wooden Trebuchet Kit.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: would it be possible to throw an item over 32 feet.
A: We've never been able to toss anything from the Working Wood Trebuchet Kit over 32 feet. However, besting 20 feet is pretty commonplace. If you were able to videotape a launch of over 32 feet, please send it in.
Was this question useful to you? Yes | No

Q: What kind of ammo was used in the video?
A: We used balls of clay/Play-Doh for the video. You'll receive some clay with your purchase, and you can easily purchase additional clay at a local store or use other items of a similar size and weight.

Q: I can't get past step 1. Where are the 2 cm pegs I am supposed to use? Do I need to cut down a piece? If so, what part number? Thanks! Donna
A: We assume you're on the step where you assemble the box. Before this step, there is a step 0 where you need to cut down the two 37cm-long dowels (part #2). Measure out and cut each dowel according to the measurements listed in this step.

Q: what would u sugest the catapult or trebuchet
A: Asking us to choose between the catapult and the trebuchet is like asking a parent to choose between their two children - totally unfair (and a favorite will never be admitted). But seriously, there are a couple differences between the two to consider. The catapult uses a tension system to shoot items about 15 feet while the trebuchet uses a counterweight system to shoot items about 20 feet. So basically, if your target is 20 feet away as opposed to 15, go with the trebuchet.

Q: I have found the Working Wood Trebuchet perfect for launching those little mice cat toys at my wife in the kitchen. The cat stampeed following the mouse impact is priceless.
A: Ha! That's awesome.
