Bring your love of bocce indoors!

Bocce is an awesome game. People of nearly any age can play it, the equipment demands are low (just a handful of bocce balls and a target), and it can be played on nearly any flat surface. Oh, and you can play it while holding a drink. Score!

The only problem, however, is that bocce must be played outdoors. Until now! With the Carpet Bocce Set, you can now enjoy the addictive outdoor bowling game indoors.

Simple rules and super fun to play

Carpet Bocce follows the same rules of its larger cousin. To win, simply roll your boules closer to the jack (aka target) than your opponent's.

Of course, gameplay can become quite interesting when you use your roll to knock your opponent's boule further from the target or to knock the jack closer to your other boules.

Everything you need fits into a small metal canister

Carpet Bocce fits into a small metal canister that is less than eight inches tall. It holds six metal boules (three balls each of two different patterns) as well as the jack (target) and a measuring tool.

Burning Questions: You Ask and We Answer

Burning Questions: You ask and we answer!
Your questions that have been answered by the Vat19.com staff:
Wouldn't you get confused though since they dont have colors?
No, there are two different patterns. Take a close look at our photos!
Does the ball can get rust.
Only if you allow it to sit in a moist environment for extended periods of time.
How can you have a video of men playing bocce without the required white pants? Does indoor bocce regulations stipulate non white pants only?
Haha, good call! White pants are optional for indoor Carpet Bocce.
Do you sell replacement bocce balls (metal ones)? Ps I love your products and you are awesome Jamie!!!!!
Sorry, but we do not sell replacement bocce balls.
What if you lose the target?
We do not sell replacement targets. You could use another round object that is similar in size and weight.
Can it break tiles?
Yes, which is why it's specifically called CARPET Bocce Ball.
Whats the measuring tool for, and how do you use it?
It's used to measure the distance from the boules to the target. Whoever is closest gets the point. It's not unlike horseshoes.
Can Carpet Bocce be played on wooden floors?
No, the balls would keep rolling around.
How do you wash the Carpet Bocce if it gets dirty?
The balls are metal, so washing them with soap and water and then drying them with a towel should be fine.
Can you play on different surfaces?
Carpet really does work best. Throwing metal balls at hardwood, linoleum, or tile could damage the floor.
Does it have to be a thick carpet or not?
How the ball rolls will depend on the thickness of the carpet. The thicker the carpet, the less it will roll/bounce.
How do you tell the balls apart?
Each set of three balls has a unique pattern of grooves so you can tell them apart.
Can you make the balls color coded so the players can easily see where their ball is?
No, but you only need to keep track of three of them so it's not that difficult.
Can bucky balls/cubes (cross promo!) and/or magnets stick to the bocce balls?
Yes, magnets will stick to the bocce balls.
How heavy are the balls?
Not very heavy at all. Each ball only weighs a few ounces.
Why do you need a measuring tool? That's so pointless you can just throw the ball and start -_-
You can use the measuring tool when it is too close to eyeball which ball is closest to the target.
How will i manage to differ from which is mine or my opponents?
Hopefully you'll be able to keep track of which balls you have thrown since there are only three that you need to watch. If you should lose track, the balls do have unique designs on them which will help you tell them apart.
Hey Vat19, will this work on the grass?
Technically yes, but Bocce is meant to be played on a flat surface so that the balls can roll, so it might not work very well. Grass would stop the balls dead in their tracks.
What if one player moves the target?
We actually cover that on the page above. Using your balls to position the jack closer to your own (and away from your opponent's) is a valid strategy.
Bocce? As far as I know this is called Jeu de Boules..
In France, perhaps. Among the Italians it is called bocce.
How do we tell whose ball is whose?
3 balls have one pattern on them and the other 3 balls have a different pattern.
Can it be used on a mat or on some blankets?
That shouldn't be a problem as long as the mat or blanket doesn't bunch up and keep the balls from rolling freely.
Does this work on hardwood?
Sure, but you are going to absolutely wreck your hardwood floors. The bocce balls are made of metal and will dent your hardwood floors.
How can you tell the difference between balls? How about making them 2 different colours.
In practice, the balls won't be too difficult to tell apart. It's worth noting that they do have different designs
How do you tell one ball from another?
The balls have different designs on them so you can tell them apart.
How do you know whose ball is whose?
The balls are differently designed but you should hopefully be able to keep track of just three balls.
what does the measuring tool do?
It verifies which ball is closest to the target.
What happens if the ball hits the target?
That's fine. Gameplay would continue with the next player throwing his ball.
This is recommended for what age?
Ages 3 and up. We mention it at the very top of the page.
How do you score the game
One point is given for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino (small ball) than the opposing team's bocce balls. The pallino distance marker can be used to determine which balls are closer. The game continues until 12 points have been scored or to pre-determined points set by the players before the game starts.
I have 3 questions. 1, Does Chrome Metal stick on to magnets? 2, What happens if you smash it with a hydraulic press? And 3, Will it ever rust?
1. Magnets do not usually stick to chrome but in this case the magnets will stick to the metal underneath the chrome. 2. It would be smashed. 3. No. Rust isn't something that just happens as time passes, it requires a great deal of moisture and oxygen. Chrome is actually used to prevent metal rusting, which is why you often see it on automobiles.
Will the bocce balls be harmed if I spray paint it?
Spray paint doesn't stick to chromed metal very well, so it will very quickly wear off and look terrible.
Does it work on a blacktop?
Technically yes but keep in mind that there would be a lot less friction than what you'd experience on a carpet, so the balls would just keep on rolling.
If I spread a towel, or some towels, down onto my wooden floor, since I only have access to that, will that work?
You'd need a lot of towels but yes we think that might work.
Do you have them in different colors?
Carpet Bocce is currently only available in chrome. The nice thing about the chrome finish is that it's highly visible on any carpet.
Is it ok if the ball hits the target and moves it a few places away?
Yes. Hitting the target and trying to move it can be part of your winning strategy.
How much space do you need to play indoor bocce?
There is no required amount of space needed to play Carpet Bocce, but obviously you want to have as much room as possible.
Does it only work on carpets?
Yes. On hard surfaces the balls would just keep rolling around.
Are the metal balls magnetic because in the video it looked like it got close to the other one in 0:15.
No. The boules are not magnets. The surfaces aren't perfectly round either, so it's not impossible that it might have wobbled.
Why can't I use my own balls, like tennis balls?
There's nothing stopping you. If you'd rather have a more presentable gift than a tube of tennis balls, give us a call.
Are the balls metal? If so what would they break
Yes, they're made of metal. No, the will not break.
How long (in centimetres) are the measurement things?
Units of measurement aren't really important in this case. The measuring tool is simply a length of string which you use to determine who is closest to the wooden ball.
Why aren't the balls coloured?
The balls have different patterns on them instead.
Are the silver balls hard? So if your throw it and it hits something won't the thing you hit break?
Yes, they are hard. If you throw them at breakable objects those objects could break.
Is the carpet bocce can be played by kids ?
Sure, as long as they're old enough to know not to stuff the boules in their mouth or throw them too hard.
Hey, is this the same as 'Bowls' as we say in England, if not, what's the difference?
We do describe how the game is played on the product page, so I'm sure you can make your own comparisons since we're not familiar with the game you're thinking of. A quick Google search indicates that "Bowls" is just another word for Bocci anyways, so yes they are probably the same.
Can it be played on hardwood floors?
Not really. Not only would the balls keep rolling around, but you'd also damage your floors.
how is "Bocce" pronounced?
