Recharges via solar cells on its base

The Flip 'n Charge Candle couldn't be simpler to use: To turn it "on", flip it right side up. To turn it "off" and recharge it, flip it upside down.

The solar cells on the base of the unit recharge the built-in lithium ion battery. A single charge will provide up to eight hours of illumination.

Flickering LED creates the candle-like glow

A single amber LED is housed inside the frosted shade. It turns itself on and off rapidly (yet randomly) to emulate the flickering effect of a traditional candle. And unlike a real candle, there's no smoke, no flame, no wax, and therefore nothing to replace or clean up after all the wax melts.

Question: So, how do I turn it on?

Answer: There is no on/off "switch". Flipping it upside down turns off the LED and automatically starts the recharging process (provided there is light present). Flipping it rightside up automatically activates the LED.

Question: How long will it last?

Answer: On a single charge, the Flip 'n Charge Flameless Candle will "burn" for 8 hours. The LED bulbs themselves should last a lifetime and will never need to be replaced. Depending on the sunlight, it will take 3-6 hours to recharge the batteries.

What do these smell like?

They are unscented.

Wait, so if you flip it over to turn it on, how do you turn it off?

To turn off the LED, just flip it over so that the solar panel is facing up. When the candle is right side up, the LED is on. When it's upside down, the LED is off.

What if i leave this outside and it rains will it break? In other words.... is it waterproof?

The Flip 'n Charge Candle is water resistant and designed for outdoor use. That being said, it's not 100% waterproof and should be brought inside when not in use.

Is it possible for the plastic holder to overheat?

No, as the LEDs emit almost no heat at all.

How many hours of sun are needed to recharge the battery?

Depending on the amount of sunlight, it will take 3-6 hours to recharge the batteries.

What happen if there no sun???

Less sun means that it will just take longer for the "candle" to charge.

Can it work witha normal light? Like...... A desk light?

Incandescent bulbs will charge the solar cell, but fluorescent lights will not. Since these are meant for the outdoors, I think the sun will do a fine job of charging them without help from a lamp.

Can this be used as a flashlight?

I suppose so. It's similar to carrying around a candle when the power goes out. It does not provide a direct stream of light like a flashlight would.

Can I leave it in the rain?

We would recommend not leaving your Flip 'n Charge candles out in the rain.

Will it work if you turn the "candle" sideways?

Putting the Flip 'n Charge on it's side will simply put it into "charge" mode. The sides are not flat, however, and it could cause it to roll around.

Can this light a light house?

No, the Flip 'n Charge is not bright enough to substitute for a lighthouse beacon.

How long does it take to recharge it?

It depends on the intensity of the sun, but somewhere between 3-6 hours to fully recharge.

Is it possible to take the frosted shade off? (lets imagine I'd want to put another erm... shade(?) or, say, cover the candle LED with spitballs)

It gives off an amount of light equivalent to a typical candle, so you may want to use several to sufficiently light a patio.

We apologize for the confusion. No, this item does not have a lifetime warranty, but rather a 6-month warranty from the manufacturer. When we said that the product can be used for a lifetime, we were referring to the LED bulb, which has an incredibly long life and never needs to be replaced.

How long can I use this before the light burns out?

I leave the TV on (on mute) when I go to bed because the light helps me fall asleep. Would this be a good alternative? If I place this on my pillow, do you guys guarantee that both my face and candle will be relatively unharmed come morning?

The Flip n Charge Candles have a pleasant flickering that will probably be a great substitute to your television (and an electricity saver!). I would not, however, recommend putting it on your pillow. Your nightstand would be a much better place.

Two questions: Will the "candle" not work if it touches water? As in solar, it means you can put it in the sun and put it under a lamp?

Yes, solar means that the candle's battery is recharged with sunlight. And while the candle is designed for outdoor use and is therefore water-resistant, it is not 100% waterproof.

Can you replace the light bulb?

No, the LED bulb is not replaceable. However, LED bulbs have an extremely long life and usually do not require replacements.

The Flip 'n Charge candle is not unbreakable, but it's not as easily breakable as glass.

This may be a stupid question but is it possible to OVERcharge the batteries? Will it hurt how long the batteries last if you leave it out in the sun for too long? And how do you know when it's charged enough?

No question is a stupid question! And no, it's not possible to overcharge the Flip 'n Charge candle, as it has a special circuit preventing just that. The candle does not have a "full charge" indicator because that in itself would draw solar energy. Instead, the manufacturer simply recommends exposing them to the daylight/sunlight as much as you can. In a decent sunlight, a full charge only takes about 3 to 4 hours.
