It's sleek and perfectly balanced. It also writes upside down, underwater, and is water resistant (even in salt water).

Basically, the Swiss Pen is one of the most awesome pens we've ever seen. Available in red and black.

Killer features make the SwissPen the perfect pen

A lot of multi-function or multi-purpose pens have great intentions, but poor execution. The SwissPen X-1 is not one of those pens. It features useful functions (such as a small map light and scissors), not completely useless ones like 120v to 220v adapters.

Compact design coupled with useful features = awesomeness.

Perfect balance makes writing comfortable and easy

The majority of multi function pens tend to be bulky and poorly balanced. Most of the "extras" are shoved up in the top of the pen and writing with them is kind of like trying to use a pencil with a five pound eraser.

The SwissPen, on the other hand, is perfectly balanced.

Pressurized ink was designed for NASA

The pressurized ink used in the SwissPen can write for 3.5 miles before requiring a refill. That's a lot of note-passing. This ink can also be used to write upside down, underwater, and in ridiculously extreme conditions like the desert and the arctic (just like our Space Pen and .375 Bullet Pen).

Of course it writes upside down

Being able to write upside down, at first thought, doesn't seem that important. However, remember that writing vertically (such as up against a wall) is now no longer a problem. Most pens can't even do that. So, while being able to write while lying on your back probably isn't a big concern, being able to write on a piece of paper while propped up against a door is pretty darned useful. Yet another glorious aspect of the SwissPen multi-function pen.

Small LED functions as a great map light

The small light in the SwissPen can run for 12 hours continuously without requiring a new battery. A battery is included with your SwissPen.

Simply press the Swiss logo on the SwissPen to turn on the light.

Choose from two colors

The SwissPen is currently available in classic red and black. Both look awesome. So, perhaps you should get one of each (wink, wink)?

Burning Questions: You Ask and We Answer

Burning Questions: You ask and we answer!
Your questions that have been answered by the Vat19.com staff:
Does this come with a case for gifting?
The SwissPen comes in a box with a transparent plastic sleeve, making it very easy to gift wrap.
What kind of refill does it use (I mean part or model number)?
The Swiss Pen X-1 uses a medium point 1.00 mm pressurized Fisher refill. These are available at office supply stores. For example, at OfficeDepot.com, the item number for the refills is 877294.
what would happen if it is written on skin or on clothes? How would you get it off?
The maker recommends using alcohol or perhaps even hairspray to remove the ink.
How can I get an ink refill for my wonderful Swiss pen?
The Swiss Pen uses a medium point 1.00 mm pressurized Fisher refill. You should be able to find this at a specialty pen or luggage store, or some big box office supply stores.
Do you have the blue X-1 pen in stock?
No, the only kind of SwissPen that we carry are the Black and Red styles that you see above.
How do you replace the battery for the map light?
All you have to do is push a paperclip into the small hole on the side of the pen. This will pop out the old battery and allow you to insert a new one.
What happens if I bring this pen to my school? will I get in trouble for haveing a knife?!?
It's possible. We suggest checking with your teacher or principal before bringing the SwissPen to school.
Is this manufactured or made by Swiss Arms?
Yes, this is an official Swiss product.
Can we buy extra refills even in Philippines?
Absolutely! We are able to ship refills to Philippines.
What other pens use the same type of cartridge?
Both the Space Pen and .375 Bullet Pen use the same ink cartridge.
Blue ink, please how do I get blue ink.
We don't sell blue ink refills, but they can be purchased from most stationery stores.
Can this be used with the (pardon the cross promo) Aquanotes?
Well, the SwissPen is water resistant and can write underwater, so it should work just fine with the AquaNotes. And don't worry about the cross-promo; we love those!
Does this pen have a tendency to leak? You know like when you have the pen in your pocket?
We have not heard of the Swiss Pen leaking ink.
Are the scissors hard to use? He looked like he was struggling.
Well, they are pretty tiny, but they'll do the trick in a pinch.
What color ink, I assume black?
Yes, the ink is black.
Do you get two?
No, sorry. We used two in the picture so you could see what all sides of the Swiss Pen X-1 look like.
How do you change the battery. I have already bought two from you. But I lost the instructions.
Simply push a paperclip into the small hole on the side of the pen. This will pop out the old battery and allow you to insert a new one.
Can I take this to school?
Every school has different policies, so you would need to ask your faculty.
Can it write upside down, underwater in a desert at the arctic?
Yes, yes, and yes.
How long is the knife?
The knife is 1.5" in length.
Does the SwissPen come with any ink refills?
No, but it can use the same refills used in the Fisher Space Pen.
How do you replace the ink cartridge? How do you replace the battery? I can't figure out how to get inside this pen!
The ink is replaced the same way as most ballpoint pens. Unscrew the metal tip by turning it counter-clockwise, and it will allow you to remove the ink cartridge. The body is opened the same way.
Why does the video not have the jingle at the end?
Because this video predates our jingle.
Age recommendation?
The manufacturer recommends the SwissPen for ages 16 and up (due to the included knife)
is it Victorinox officially licensed swiss army product?
Yes. In fact, it is THE Swiss Army product.
How sharp is the knife?
Very sharp! Like any other knife, this knife can be made however sharp you want it to be.
If I accidentally drop it underwater, will the light stop working?
According to the manufacturer the pen is "water resistant" but they do not call it "waterproof". The Swiss Pen is impervious to water, but it's not sealed off against the water. Completely submerging the pen for long periods of time might damage the electronics eventually.
When writing in water does it write fuzzy like most pens write under water or does it write just like it would outside of water
Exactly the same. It's almost as if the water has no effect on it at all!
How sharp is the knife part of the pen?
Pretty dang sharp, actually. Be careful!
Am I allowed to carry this pen in Airplanes?
Probably not, but for safety's sake you might want to either put the SwissPen into your checked luggage or find out ahead of time from airport security. The TSA has very strict guidelines, but they can be a little vague at times.
When you say that a refill can write for 3.5 miles, do you mean a 3.5 mile straight line? Or 3.5 miles of written word (which would require far more ink than a simple straight line)?
I think that a straight line is what is being implied.
I lost the silver tip of the pen, do you have replacements
I'm sorry but we do not sell or carry replacement parts.
Is the ink hypoallergenic? Is it dangerous to leave it on your skin for any length of time? Is more ink used if more pressure is used in writing and if so, will that decrease the 3.5 miles and if so, by how much (in general)?
No, the ink will not damage your skin. Pressure has no impact on how much ink is used.
Does this take the same refill as the bullet pen?
Exactly the same!
I don't really understand how it writes upside down. Do you turn the paper upside down or the pen?
The pen. An upside down piece of paper wouldn't have any effect on this or any other pen.
How does it write upside down?
By way of a special pressurized ink cartridge which doesn't need to rely on gravity to pull the ink out.
How do you test the length that the pen can write?(in this case, 3.5 miles)
The manufacturer did the testing, but they probably figured an average based on a small scale test.
Is the SwissPen waterproof?
According to the manufacturer the pen is "water resistant" but they do not call it "waterproof". The Swiss Pen is impervious to water, but it's not sealed off against the water.
In what situations would this pen be covered by the warranty?
The manufacturer's warranty covers any defects that may appear during normal use.
Can it write on oil, wood and glass, because you said that it could write on glossy surfaces or in extreme temperatures like snow or very high temperature?
Oily or wooden surfaces should not be much of a problem, but glass may be difficult. The SwissPen uses the same pressurized ink cartridge as the SpacePen, and should work perfectly in most extreme weather conditions.
Is there a warranty on this? ^^
The SwissPen has a one-year warranty from the manufacturer.
How long is the pen?
Each pen is approximately 7.7" long.
Would it be cool for my survival kit???
That seems logical. Go for it!
Is it tsa approved ? ( can i take it in airplane)
We do not recommend taking anything vaguely knife related onto an airplane.
How to close or open this pen??
Twisting the pen will extend/retract the ballpoint tip.
Does the swisspen have a warranty?
The SwissPen has a one-year warranty from the manufacturer.
Does it have a cap?
No. The writing tip retracts into the body of the pen.
Can you get refills for it?
You can purchase Fisher Pen refills here or at most office supply stores.
How long would you say the batteries last?
We don't have a specific number of hours or days that we can tell you, but the batteries should last a very, very long time.
Which pen do you think is better, the inkless metal pen, or the Swiss pen? Also, which one will last longer before running out?
The Inkless Metal Pen will last longer, but they're so very different that it isn't really possible to say one is better than the other. There is no comparison.
It's legal to buy swiss pen in California? I will get trouble buying swiss pen?
It is perfectly legal to purchase and own the Swiss Pen in California. It falls well under the legal length of a pocket knife.
Why is light Red? It can blend in with the red lines and make it hard to see colors on map!!!
Red light is much easier on your eyes in dark environments and will not cause eyestrain. It does not make the map any harder to read.
Where do i get the special refills?
You can purchase Fisher Pen refills here or at most office supply stores.
where i can buy your ink refills?
We do not sell refills, but you should be able to find them at office supply stores like Office Depot and Staples.

No, it's well made (Swiss-made!).
Q: Where can pen refills be purchased?
The Swiss Pen X-1 uses a medium point 1.00 mm pressurized Fisher refill, which is available at office supply stores like Office Depot.
I am interested with your SwissPen X-1 Multi-Function Executive Pen but how do I order with the refill?
Most office supply stores carry Fisher pen refills, but you can also pick one up here.
Do you think you could use this in school?
You should check with your faculty first. I'm sure your school has rules regarding pocket knives.
Can you detach the knife?
No, the knife cannot be detached. That's not how pocket knives usually work.
Is this product actually made from the Victorinox Swiss Army company? (the original creators of the Swiss Army Knife)
Wagner of Switzerland, actually, which is a part of Victorinox.
Is the LED replaceable and does it have to be replaced with a red LED?
The LED should never need replacing. The only thing you will need to replace are the batteries.
Do you guys at Vat19 come up with these product ideas yourself? Or do just get them from manufacturers and advertise them on your website/resell?
We are a retailer, not a manufacturer. Most of the products on our site are made by different manufacturers.
i'm going in a scuba diving expo, and i'm going about 150-175 feet down. Will i be able to use this pen at that depth?
The SwissPen withstood the manufacturer's tests with divers. However, it has not been tested at that depth before.
Let put the X-1 through some hypothetical but still possible tests 3: It is stated that it is precision balanced is there still balance with the extension of the knife/letter opener for that extra edge when confronting ninjas.
Yes, I was able to balance the pen on my finger just as well with the knife extended as without.
How is the battery changed?
Simply push a paperclip into the small hole on the side of the pen. This will pop out the old battery and allow you to insert a new one.
Does it have everything that a regular swiss army knife has (plus a pen)?
The class Swiss Army Knife comes with the following: Small Blade Scissors Nail File with Screwdriver Tip Toothpick Tweezers Key Ring The Pen includes the following: Scissors Red Light Nail file/Letter opener Small blade Ink Pen
27/1/23 Whom it may concern It states in the questions above that there are refills available. Do you do blue refills to fit the above? How much are they? Thank-you
Sorry, we only sell black refills!
If I bought this and the pen was broken by dropping it from not to much of a height could I get a refund? Thanks for answering and listening to this question Rick! By the way love your videos!
Our warranty only covers manufacturer defects and damage in shipping. We cannot send you a free replacement if you broke it from carelessness.
What store would I have to go to to buy this pen?
I've heard rumors that these can be purchased at Vat19.com. I'm not aware of any other stores which might carry them.
I have 2 questions 1 Can the metal thing break because on all my army knives it broke and scissors didn't work. 2 is this a good gift for a person who is a outdoors man that carrys a pen and knife around everywhere?
1. Not necessarily. It just depends on how well you take care of it. I've had the same pocket knife for years and the scissor's hinge still works fine. 2. I think you might already know the answer to that one.
Can you ship this out of the US?
Yes, we ship internationally.
Is this pen religious? I ask because of the cross on it.
Not implicitly. That's been SwissTech's logo for... well... ever!
Is it a victorinox?
Wagner of Switzerland, actually, which is a part of Victorinox.
Why is the light red rather than white?
Red light is much easier on your eyes in dark environments and will not cause eyestrain. It is every bit as visible as white light.
Is this the same as the Swisspen manufactured by Wagner of Switzerland?
The very same! So you can certainly expect a high level of quality!
What if I took this to school???
You may want to check with your teacher or principal before bringing the SwissPen to school. It does contain a "knife", so I doubt you'd be allowed to bring it onto school property.
I have a black x-1, but with blue ink. Are there black ink refills available anywhere? I can't find them.
Actually, there are! We keep them here.
Can you use this pen in the desert?
We can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to use the Swiss Pen in a desert.
Is it heavy?
Not really. The Swiss Pen weighs just 1.6 oz.
Are you saying that the swiss pen is basically a space pen type of pen? because it's not written literally in here.
The SwissPen uses the Fisher ink cartridge, however it is not a Fisher product.
What is the density of the X-1 pen?
After many hours of tapping it on my desk, my scientific conclusion is that it is in fact "very" dense.
How many pages can you write before it runs out?
A lot! The SwissPen can write for up to 3.5 miles before needing a refill.
If its kinda like the space and bullet pen can the refills from those be used in this pen?
The refills for the Fisher Space Pens will work with the SwissPen.
What happens if you ran out of refills?
Refills can be purchased at most office supply or specialty pen stores.
is it stainless steel?
According to the manufacturer, the tools, as well as the tip, are stainless steel.
Is the pen durable, and scratch proof? Also I really admire however answers all the questions at Vat19.com, your clever, and really helpful.
Obviously if you put some effort into it, you could scratch the SwissPen, however they are very durable and will hold up for years with normal use.
So you can use the space pen refill on this website vat19.com to refill this pen
Yes, the Space Pen refill will work with the SwissPen.
this is so cool i just ordered it!
Awesome, thanks for your order!
can you take the knife out ?
No, the knife is not meant to be removed from the pen.
What is with the posh voice at the end of this?? lol
Ha, yep! That's one of our oldest videos, before we created our catchy jingle.
Do you sell replacement ink cartridges? If so, how much?
We do not sell replacement cartridges, but you should be able to locate pressurized refills at any fine pen or luggage store. Many big box office product retailers will also carry the correct refills.
Do you do engraving? =)
We do not, but there are numerous 3rd party companies who do offer engraving services.
The flashlight seems kind of small and the scissors look hard to use. Is this item really useful? or is it just for looks?
Like most Swiss utility tools, the tools included are not meant to replace your standard flashlight or scissors. Rather, it is to have a convenient backup if you find yourself in a situation where you do not have access to that tool.
1-what ages is this recommended for? 2-do you enjoy your job as a question answerer?
1) The manufacturer recommends the SwissPen for ages 16 and up (due to the included knife). 2) Yes, it can be pretty entertaining sometimes.
Wait so is the pen completely waterproof?
According to the manufacturer the pen is "water resistant" but they do not call it "waterproof". The Swiss Pen is impervious to water, but it's not sealed off against the water.
will there be more ink colors for this pen in the future
No, the SwissPen only comes with black ink.
Does the pen come in a giftbox?
The SwissPen comes in a box with a transparent plastic sleeve, making it very easy to gift wrap. I don't think it really qualifies as a gift box, though.
Could the knife on the X-1 pen be considered a weapon? How dangerous is it?
Technically, the knife/letter opener could be considered a weapon. It's not ridiculously sharp, but it could do damage (like a puncture) if it had enough force behind it.
could this be took on a plane
Probably not, as it has a nail file and knife/letter opener.
Why does the clip come off? What can it be used for?
Although the clip can be pulled off, it has no other intended function.
I have one of these pens, but have lost the metal tip at the pen end. Can you tell me how to get the component replaced?
We're afraid not. Our only suggestions would be to buy another one or check with the manufacturer to see if they sell replacement parts.
does this pen have refills included, and if so, how many are included and can are they also pressurized and have the same amount of capacity?
Refills are not included with the SwissPen, but you should be able to find them at a specialty pen or luggage store, or even some big box office supply stores. The SwissPen uses a medium point 1.00 mm pressurized Fisher refill.
What kind of batteries does this use?
The SwissPen X-1 uses readily available CR1025 batteries and the batteries can easily be replaced by pushing a paper-clip through the hole on the side of the pen, thereby pushing the battery out of the pen.
