Burns for up to one hour before automatically extinguishing
Candle by the Hour uses coiled, pliable beeswax to create an auto-extinguishing candle. Each inch of candle burns for approximately 20 minutes. You can feed up to 3 inches through the clamp for a worry-free burn time of one hour.
Candle by the Hour features a brass stand and the ability to prevent your house from burning down. That is unless you knock the candle over into a pile of dry leaves that is sitting underneath your curtains.

A few customer questions we've answered
Q: Could you use this as an extremely slow-burning fuse? Then I could scare my neighbours when a firecracker goes off 60 hours after I leave on holiday. A: We don't see why not. Please let us know how it works out!
Q: Can yoou tell me if you post to United Kingdom and if so how much?
thanks, Sara A: We ship the Candle by the Hour (and all of our other products) worldwide. You can get quotes for your postal code by using the "Get Shipping Prices" link near the "Add to Cart" button on the top part of the page.
Q: is it easy to recreate? A: Easy is definitely a subjective thing, but we don't believe it would be easy to recreate the Candle by the Hour. If you enjoy candle-making, we say go for it. On the other hand, if you value your time and just think it's a cool product, we recommend that you take advantage of the modern manufacturing processes that allow this item to be sold for less than $30.
Q: Where does the melted wax go? A: The Candle by the Hour is made of beeswax, which melts at a higher temperature and leaves considerably less residue than a normal candle. Any melted wax that remains will collect in the bottom of the plate.
Q: do they come scented? A: No. The Candle by the Hour is unscented.
Q: Whats the point of an unscented candle?? A: It creates light. And what about people with allergies? Oops, I guess we're not supposed to answer a question with a question. The Candle by the Hour might be unscented so as to not offend people with allergies or who do not like really smelly candles.
Q: What percent of beeswax is in the candle? A: The Candle by the Hour is 87% pure beeswax, including the cotton wick. The rest is made of inert materials that the bees bring into the hive which cannot be removed from the beeswax. For example, trace amounts of dirt or pollen. The beeswax is cleaned as best as possible. Beeswax cannot be "100% pure" since other materials will inevitably be present. The US Government allows candles with at least 50% beeswax to be called "pure beeswax".
Q: Does the clamp move down to the bottom of the candle or does the candle move up? I have one and only have used it a couple of times. Thanks. A: The candle needs to be moved up through the clamp. Feed up about 3 inches of wax through the clamp, and when the flame reaches the clamp it will extinguish.
