This information is likely available in your car owner's manual. If not, you can try plugging a cell phone charger into the cigarette port in your car. If the charger remains on after you turn off your engine, you'll know that it still has power.

As long as the SelfCharge Auto Jumper is used as instructed in the manual, it should not damage any part of your vehicle. Regarding use with a Garmin GPS: The SelfCharge's 12V DC power socket mimics the 12V socket (cigarette lighter) of a vehicle. Any accessory you would normally plug into your vehicle's 12V socket (cell phone, camcorder, GPS, radio, etc.) can be also powered from the SelfCharge's 12V socket, using the built-in battery as the power source.

Will it work on a 2004 Nissan Quest?
It's very difficult to know for sure, especially on minivans. As stated before, the Auto Jumper was designed for smaller cars with smaller engines.
Most cars it won't save the memory without the key being in and turned to make connection.You can't change the battery with the key in and turned without making a fireworks show.
The manufacturer has confirmed that it is safe to use the SelfCharge Auto Jumper while your key is in the accessory position.

The SelfCharge Auto Jumper uses 5 amps. The unit should be charged 12-24 hours when you first receive it. It should be re-charged after it has been used or after 6 months of non-use. There is not an indicator on the unit that tells you when to re-charge. According to the manufacturer, the torque should not affect the SelfCharge Auto Jumper, as torque has more to do with mechanics than with the electrical system. The SelfCharge Auto Jumper will work with small and medium size car batteries.
will this jump a totally dead battery?
Unfortunately, no, it cannot breathe new life into a car battery that is completely discharged.

Electrically, yes. Physically, possibly. The outlet's center conductor has to be positive and 12 volts. There are 2 kinds of outlet diameters used in Europe. The United States standard is a little bit narrower than the European standard. If the plug allows you to change the diameter, then the SelfCharge Auto Jumper will fit fine. The SelfCharge Auto Jumper is designed to recharge 12-volt batteries with a low voltage between 10.4 and 10.5 Volts. So, if your car battery requires more than 10.4-10.5 Volts, then the SelfCharge would not be suitable for your vehicle system and you would need to use traditional jumper cables.

No, it does not fully charge the battery. The Auto Jumper is designed to give your battery just enough energy to turn the engine over if the battery is too weak.

There seems to have been some confusion about which battery was in question. We have changed that answer to be more clear. To confirm, it takes 30-60 minutes to charge the actual battery in the SelfCharge Auto Jumper and only 10 minutes to charge your car battery using the SelfCharge.

Probably not. The Auto Jumper was designed with smaller engines in mind. Think more along the lines of common sedans and coupes, such as Corollas and Civics.

The SelfCharge Auto Jumper was made specifically for cars and SUVs. It is not meant to be used for larger trucks. Cold temperatures will not have an effect on the charger.

Not if used properly and as intended. It's safe to leave the Auto Jumper plugged in.
The battery in my 2009 Buick LaCrosse recently dropped to 11.2 voltage, and the starter wouldn't crank the 3800 engine. Would the SelfCharge Auto Jumper have been able to crank the engine?
It's possible, though we haven't tested it with 09 LaCrosse. The Auto Jumper is really designed for smaller vehicles.

Probably not. Larger engines like those found in the Xterra need a bit more power to start than the Auto Jumper can provide.

1. What to do when you "used up" (A.K.A using it 500 times) the Auto Jumper?

You'll know it is no longer fully functional by its inability to turn over the engine. 500 times is a lot, though. In all my years of driving, I've only ever needed a jump twice. Should you actually bring the Auto Jumper to its end, I would suggest bringing it to a proper facility capable of disposing electronics.

Hello, I wanted to know if this battery pack can be used to power a 12-volt powered electric travel blanket. The blanket has a 12-volt male cigarette adapter for car use. I want to use the battery pack inside a tent with blanket for winter camping.
You can but we can't guarantee that it would provide power for very long. Electric blankets tend to draw a lot of power.

Most of our products are designed to jump weak batteries that are still good, not completely dead ones. You might want to try an auto store or perhaps even buy a new battery.

Rechargeable batteries do not last forever. Eventually the battery would no longer be able to hold a charge and a replacement would need to be purchased.
I own a Nissan Altima. Will it work properly on my vehicle?
We don't think that will be a problem. You'd only run into issues with larger vehicles such as trucks, RVs, and some vans.

Some cars maintain accessory power even when the ignition is off. But if yours does not, you will need to put the ignition to the "accessory" position in order to use the SelfCharge.

We apologize for the confusion. The initial question was whether the SelfCharge would work if the power ports and cigarette lighter were switched off. The answer to that is "no". If they do not, then your battery is almost (if not totally) depleted.
