Smencils are made from 100% recycled newspapers

Unlike traditional pencils which are made from wood, all Smencils, including Holiday Smencils, are composed almost entirely of recycled or recyclable material. The graphite core is wrapped in recycled newspaper which has been dipped in environmentally friendly and non-toxic fragrances.

The erasers are biodegradable and the ferrules (the metal doodad that holds the eraser) are recyclable. The plastic tube that houses each Smencil is made from corn plastic and is also recyclable.

They write just like regular pencils

Q: Why do people say 'flavors' instead of 'scents'? It's not like they're eating the Smencils... Or are they?
A: People probably say "flavors" because a lot of the scents are of things we eat - i.e. Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon, Candy Cane, etc. While they may smell like delicious goodies, they are not edible. So please don't eat your Smencils.

A: We aren't aware of any Valentine's Day (or any other holiday) scented Smencils.

A: Hm, this isn't easy to describe. It smells fruity, but not citrus-y. Think berry Kool-Aid with a subtle hint of spice.

A: Smencils save trees because more trees aren't cut down just to make the pencils. They are made from recycled newspaper, not wood.

A: We think that Smencils are more difficult to break than regular pencils. There are many layers of recycled newspaper wrapped tightly around the graphite core, which makes it sturdy.
