Can the shaker be used as a thermos?
No. A Thermos has a vacuum sealed wall to prevent conducting heat. Also, the lid doesn't screw on. Really, there is no reason why the shaker should be used as a Thermos.
Can you use it with a laptop or surface rt?
The app isn't designed for desktop PCs or laptops, though there are some it might work with. If your laptop uses either of the iOS or Android platforms listed at the top of the page, then it will work. There is not an app for the Windows RT operating system.

This scale is not meant to be doused or submerged but has been designed to be spilled resistant. In addition the top clear plate is meant to come off to be cleaned and is dishwasher safe.

Not as a separate utensil, but the lid does have a strainer built into it. You can see it in action in the photo that says "App-Controlled Bartending."

No. If a recipe requires a specific soda it will tell you, however it cannot discern the difference between a Coke and a Pepsi solely by its weight.

A paperweight. The scale does not have its own display, so without the app it is useless.

There aren't many non-alcoholic drinks which require precise measurements. Milkshakes certainly aren't one of them.

Non-mixed drinks should be pretty easy to make with or without the Perfect Bartender since they will always come out of the bottle the same way. With that being said, the Perfect Bartender can be used to determine precise measurements by weight if you need to learn how to pour shots into glasses larger than a shotglass.

I'm not really sure what you mean. You could make mixed drinks and pour them into the Party Bear if you wanted.
