A Gorillapod is not a small group of wandering primates; rather, it is a flexible camera tripod that consists of dozens of articulating ball-and-socket joints that allow you to secure your camera to almost any object.
The Gorillapod tripod is perfect for the shutterbug on the go. It's small size means you can toss it in your pocket or backpack. The Gorillapod provides all the benefits of a traditional tripod: namely, steadying a camera in low light situations such as parties or restaurants or taking timed group photos. But, the Gorillapod can do a lot more than your average tripod. You can wrap its legs around a branch, pole, or the back of a chair. Any place you can imagine, you can set up the Gorillapod.
Gorillapod firmly secures your camera to just about anything!
The 360º flexibility of the joints make it possible to attach the Gorillapod tripod to nearly anything.
Soft rings and rubberized feet prevent the Gorillapod tripod from slipping. Steady the Gorillapod on nearly any surface.
The Gorillapod is the most portable tripod we've ever used
We've created tons of product videos for Vat19.com and we pride ourselves on taking our own product shots. So, we know a few things about photography. We're not claiming to be the Ansel Adams of table-top photography, but one basic rule is that if you want to take a good photo, you need a tripod.
Unless you're a surgeon, you simply can't hold the camera steady enough for a clear picture, especially if you're in a dark room or restaurant. But, you can't go into a restaurant with a four-foot-tall tripod unless you're ready to order the surf & turf and a bottle of Dom.
The Gorillapod's flexible joints, in addition to its quick-release plate and lock ring, make it the king of portable tripods.
The Gorillapod Tripod is available in multiple sizes
The Gorillapod SLR Tripod is designed for SLRs and small video cameras weighing up to 1.75 lbs.
The Gorillapod Original Tripod is designed for small point-and-shoot cameras weighing up to 9.7 ounces.
I have a burning question about this product!
Is there something you need to know about this product that we've omitted?
Send us an anonymous question and we promise to answer it within 1 business day. The answer will be displayed below.
A few customer questions we've answered
Q: Does it attach to any camera? A: There are an awful lot of cameras in the world, so we can't say yes with 100% certainty, but we've yet to see a modern camera that wasn't compatible with the Gorillapod tripod.
Q: How much does the Gorillapod Original weigh? A: The Gorillapod Original Tripod weighs approximately 4.0 ounces. The Gorillapod SLR Tripod weighs approximately 10.5 ounces.
Q: Is it weatherproof? A: While we can't find any official documentation from the manufacturer that states that the Gorillapod is weatherproof, our feeling based upon observation is that it is. It is made completely of plastic and rubber, except for the camera plate screw which appears to be stainless steel. Therefore, we're confident that the Gorillapod is weatherproof.
Q: Do you have some kind of remote for taking picutes when you set up the Gorillapod? A: Most cameras are equipped with a self-timer which you can use for taking pictures when there's nobody available to take the shot for you.
Q: Are the legs long enough to wrap around a head. This would make a great 1st person cam. A: The Gorillapod's legs are not long enough to wrap around a human head. You could tie strings to the end of each leg as extensions, though. The rubbery grips on the legs would help it stay in place.
Q: DOES EITHER PRODUCT HAVE TOPS THAT YOU CAN SWITCH SO THAT I CAN FIT MULTIPLE CAMERAS?
A: Each Gorillapod comes with one quick release plate. We do not sell individual quick release plates.
Q: I have an older Kodak digital and I think it weighs more than 10 oz. Would the SLR gorilla pod work with this camera? A: Yes, it should work well. You can actually use the SLR Gorillapod for lighter cameras, we just don't recommend using the standard Gorillapod for heavier cameras.
Q: would it hold a gorilla holding my digital camera? A: Hmm...several hundred pounds of gorilla muscle is a little different from a tiny camera. We're gonna have to go with "no". On the other hand, you might be able to wrap your Gorillapod tripod around the gorilla's arm or neck to get some interesting action shots.
Q: Could I use Gorilla original with Panasonic Lumix TZ3? A: If your camera has a hole on the bottom of it that a tripod can screw into, then the Gorillapod should work just fine.
Q: Would it work on a bike handlebar? A: We don't see why not. We wouldn't recommend any extreme biking while it's on there (you may need some kind of additional reinforcement if that's your intention), but the Gorillapod can be wrapped around anything it's legs can fit around.
Q: Does it come in Pink?? A: Vat19 only carries the Gorillapod in the black and grey color that you see above.
Q: I have a fear of spiders and the gorillapod reminds me of them, should i still buy it? A: Of course. The Gorillapod would be a great tool to help cure your fear, actually. Start out with minimal exposure. Sit in the same room as the Gorillapod, then move it a little closer, until you eventually get comfortable enough to be alone in a darkened room with it. From there, you can move on to real spiders (and you can finally begin using the GorillaPod as a tripod).
Q: i like to collect tripods. would this tripod make a good addition to my collection? A: Yes, the Gorillapod is an awesome tripod!
